                                Three Year Olds

Here we are for the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown as this is basically the Kentucky Derby for Canada. There is only a field of ten lining up for the thousand dollar dash which is surprising because I thought there would definitely be at least fourteen. Let’s take a look at the field of ten three year old Canadian breds.

1. Ckon You Feel It (3-2-1-0 $25.200), trained by Onlineracingclub.com

A very lightly raced colt here as he has only ran three times in his career. Two of those starts have been wins but one was in a maiden ten claimer at the free track and one was on a soft turf course. He is definitely the speed of the speed and I’m guessing he will try to carry that as long as he can.

2. Blindfold (8-4-0-0 $912.020), trained by Mb Stables

One of the two top dogs from Mb Stables right here was a Kentucky Derby runner and just ran a very good fourth in the Belmont. He is a very good horse and won the Louisiana Derby earlier this spring on the way to the derby. He’s definitely a live shooter in here and should be one of the favorites.

3. Sweeping Dragonville (3-1-1-1 $91.150), trained by Drabfantasy

This horse is a very good runner on the turf in his short career but I don’t know if he will like the dirt as much as the turf. I never count Drabfantasy out though because he knows what he’s doing. If he likes the dirt as much as he likes the turf he can be very live in this race but I don’t know if he will.

4. Great Romance (1-0-0-1 $3.110), trained by Drabfantasy

A very lightly raced maiden here as he only has one start in his career and that was a five furlong maiden turf race where he ran third first out. I don’t think he is a big dirt horse based on the works and I also think he’s definitely not seasoned enough to take on a tough field like this either.

5. Corroya (7-1-4-2 $78.120), trained by Team 7 Illusions

A recent maiden winner last out here at WO on the turf. He had ran a bunch of seconds before that win so it was finally time to break his maiden last time. He is at least familiar with the track but I think he likes the turf more than dirt. I think he is a turf horse and I also think he is outclassed.

6. General Madness (7-0-5-0 $49.660), trained by Mo Mentum Farm

Another maiden in the field and he is a little more experienced than the other one. He is staked placed this spring at TP and has five seconds to his name but he’s yet to find the winners circle in his career. I don’t see him finally finding the winners circle but Mo Mentum Farm did win the race last year.

7. Mist Maker (8-2-0-2 $381.000), trained by Crocker Ggs

One of the best two year old Canadian breds last year he missed out on the Kentucky Derby by one horse. He didn’t run too bad in the Preakness either but I don’t think he likes to be on the lead at all. If he comes form behind like usual and the pace is fast he can have a very legitimate chance to win.

8. Sacred Brave (7-1-0-1 $227.150), trained by Blushing Meadows

Another who barely missed out on the Kentucky Derby field was this horse right here. He ran a nice third in the LA Derby and a nice fourth in the Arkansas Derby but didn’t really fire in the Belmont like Blushing Meadows thought he was going to. If he runs like he did in the spring he could be tough.

9. La Grande Terre (7-1-2-1 $133.340), trained by D J C Racing Stables

The entry from the wizard didn’t run too bad in some triple crown prep races this year as he ran second in the Gotham at AQU. He didn’t run good in the Arkansas Derby but came back to win a high level maiden special weight and the wizard will not be afraid to take a shot with him at all in here.

10. Centerpiece (12-4-5-1 $1,585.200), trained by Mb Stables

The Kentucky Derby runner up and Preakness fourth place finisher is by far the classiest horse jn the field and will definitely be my pick to win. He is a very good horse and will likely be the favorite and will obviously be very tough to beat. He is the class of the field and my top pick in here.

Summary

A very nice group of Canadian bred three year olds will line up to contest the first leg of the Canadian triple crown. I think the match race will be between the two Mb Stables runners Centerpiece and Blindfold.
