1st        Star Vault               Mb Stables                     Santana R Jr                   1:21.00

The perfect tactical race from the GOAT here as they set one in front, one in the stalk and the wide drawn horse sitting behind enjoying the strong pace. The speed could’ve held but if it didn’t this one was ready to pounce and with the wide draw he found the space to launch from and won in the end with a bit in hand. This five year old once again demonstrated how the trip can be more malleable at HRP than in real life as he took this race and a spot in the BC when at the start of the year he was aimed long, taking a close third in the grade one SA Handicap over ten furlongs.

A real solid type, he may have just found a new string to his bow.             

2nd       I Want It All                     Luz International         Prat F                  1:21.27

Looked unlucky in the Crosby trying to come from a long way back he sat much closer today but as is often the case that seems to blunt a finishing kick and he just didn’t finish as effectively as he has in the past. Still this was another good effort from this sprinter who looks to be right in the BC picture.  

3rd        My Tomorrows              Maxmillion Farm         Bridgmohan S X       1:21.30

Drawn wide he went on the speed but could never settle or find a good alley to run in and in the end just flattened out in the sprint to the line. He saw off the other pace horses but the damage had been done.           

4th        Valyrian Needle           Mb Stables                     Lopez P                 1:21.44 The draw put him right on the speed and sure enough that’s where he ended up. He held the rail so managed to get a fairly easy run but when the whips came out he faltered down the stretch fading into fourth. I think this was about his best effort today.
