Stormy Embrace Wins the GP Oaks

The GP Oaks – GII [KYO]
GP Race 8 1M – Dirt
Purse $250.000
Three Year Olds Fillies

1st Stormy Embrace, trained by Mb Stables

A big run from this filly right here as she showed that she could make the jump from statebred maiden special weight company to graded stakes company level. She sat right off of the leader early on and kicked clear late to win by a half length. She ran the race in 1:42.08 and earned $150.000 for the win and is now qualified for the Kentucky Oaks.

2nd Love Struck Baby, trained by D J C Racing Stables

Also a very big run from this runner here as she closed from far back in the field to get up for the second place finish. She was up close at first and then she dropped back to near the back before she re-rallied to come back and only get beat half of a length. She ran a very nice race also.

3rd Southern Two Step, trained by The Sidley Stud

This filly ran a nice race also as she rallied to finish third after sitting midpack early on in the race. She sat midpack and covered up early on and then made a nice charge to get up for third at least. She was only beaten by a length and she was actually closing late.

4th First Impression, trained by Mb Stables

Well this filly right here rounded out the superfecta and put both of the Mb Stables runners in the money. She sat fourth the whole around around there and just could not get in the top three. She was also only beaten a length and she ran a pretty nice fourth.

Summary

Well I am not going to lie I did not really see the winner in the top three at all. I did not think that the statebred maiden special weight win would translate very good into this race but she proved that she is a quality filly for sure. Congratulations to Stormy Embrace and Mb Stables.
