  2  WO     ONT Damsel Stakes

A small field, a close finish and it really didn’t go the way the betting public though it would…  the ONT Damsel Stakes ended with the field being less than a length apart and Strawberry Latte, owned by Allinthegate, got home first by a whisker, nosing out longshot Confederate Warrior.  It was a neck back to Aquifer in third, with post-time favorite Poison Candy another half-length back in fourth.  The final running time was 1:423 for the mile and a sixteenth, and the WO main oval was listed as Fast. 

Strawberry Latte is a 3yo chestnut filly by Grandeur – Strawberry Jam, by Copper Bottom and she was bred in ONT by her owner, Allinthegate.  This was her fourth win from ten starts, three of those coming this season, and she now shows lifetime earnings of $212.800.  Congrats to the Connections!

Strawberry Latte tracked the pace throughout, up to take the win in the shadow of the wire.  Confederate Warrior broke alertly, set the pace to the final strides, caught.  Aquifer taken off of the pace 2p, fanned widest into the lane, good try.  Poison Candy tracked the pace, no excuse.
