Now that’s horse racing!!  When the dust settled on Saturday’s Gommonwath (GIII), they must have used all the film to get the photo-finishes figured out. For the win, it was about as close as they come, but Spankys Barn got the win as Street Edge did just that… he edged out Maxmillion Farm’s Its A Laugher to get the win and the lion’s share of the $300.000 purse.  The final running time was 1:212 for the seven panels.  It was a neck back to Shifu Tan in third and the same distance to Sweet Sweet Sweet, taking the minor money.  Only two lengths covered the entire field, proving just how tough this one was.

Street Edge is a 5yo chestnut entire by Edge Of Chai – Della Street, by Big Easy, and he was bred in Cal by EasyMoney Stables.  Purchased from the Dec Auction for just $7.780, he now has five wins from twenty-six starts, has won all three starts since chaning barns, and now shows lifetime earnings of $405.520.  Congrats to the connections!

Street Edge sent from the gate, spirited clear into the turn, moved to 3p for the drive and was engaged by an inside foe, lasted.  Its A Laugher midpack saving ground to the top of the lane, cut the corner, engaged leaded in the lane, dueled, could not get to winner in a game effort.  Shifu Tan just behind pace racing 3-wide throughout, just up for the show.  Sweet Sweet Sweet showed good speed, fanned widest for the drive, out kicked late.  Geronimo rated back, good late interest.  Ukrainian Victory gave an even effort while no threat.  Cherokee Twins was not a factor.  Rock N Rattle trailed, not a factor.  Stolen showed good speed early, tired.
