Commonwealth – GIII
$350.000 – For Four Year Olds And Upward
7 Furlongs – Dirt
Keeneland – April 4, 2026
In our preview we thought that Superbush looked like the standout of the field and everything about the running of the Commonwealth proved that to be true. The gate opened, Superbush went to the lead and ran the other four contenders off their feet.
Winner: Superbush (Acber Farms/F. Geroux) Supercomplication/Bush Falls (Niagara Falls) Went to the front off of a sharp break. Oh Brother and Dorian Gray attempted to press the pace, but never really pressured Superbush who cruised to an open lengths victory virtually unchallenged.
Second: Dorian Gray (Mb Stables/L. Dettori) Native Music/Rehabilitate (Cliffs Of Moher) Pressed the pace early then stalked content to let Oh Brother do most of the pressuring, but the winner was never softened, and Dorian Gray could only move in the stretch to be second best holding off Deviations.
Third: Deviations (TwinTowersRacing/S.X. Bridgmohan) Starship Majestic/Deviation By Design (Decima) Sat at the back of the field with Louisiana Asset while the other three horses in the race made the pace. Rallied to challenge for second falling just short but never came near the winner.
Fourth: Louisiana Asset (Big Jd Racing/F.H. Da Silva) Asset Class/Ye Hateth Us (Ye Charley) Was content to bide his time at the back with Deviations. Attempted to follow that one when he moved but lacked the same kick and could only manage to best the fading Oh Brother for fourth.
Preview Pick: Superbush. Winner making this writer two for two in preview picks this weekend. A much-needed improvement from recent prognostication failures.
With his Commonwealth win Superbush scored his second straight graded stakes win and his third straight stakes victory. He has now been in the money in nine straight races and puts himself at the top of the Sprint division. Pretty good for a $4.930 auction buy. The $210.000 winner’s share of the purse brings his career earnings to $672.800. This was the first Commonwealth win for Acber Farms and jockey F. Geroux.
