The Swale Stakes Draws Good Field

The Swale Stakes – GIII
1/30/21
GP Race 5 7F – Dirt
Purse $100.000
Three Year Olds

A field of ten has been entered up for this years running of the grade three Swale Stakes here at Gulfstream Park over seven furlongs. A nice race and it can be used as a stepping stone towards other bigger races. Lets take a look at the field.

1. Cheerful Charley (4-3-0-1 $120.000), trained by Mb Stables

First up in the field here and this horse is coming into this race off of a win in the Lafitte on the bullring at Delta at the same distance. He has won three in a row and has improved with every start and could run good in here if he can wok out a trip.

2. Code Red Party (5-2-1-1 $65.100), trained by Martyparty

Next up in the field here is this horse and he is coming into this race off of a very fast closing third in a stakes race at Fair Grounds. He has never stepped over six furlongs and I think the extra distance will help him out. Could be rolling late.

3. Patriot (7-1-2-2 $89.800), trained by Mo Mentum Farm

This next runner in the field is coming into this race for a new barn and before that he was in some stakes races including one where he ran a good third. I think the seven furlongs is a good distance and he could have a sneaky chance in this field.

4. High Crimes (5-2-1-0 $60.020), trained by Fractious

Moving onto this runner here and he is coming into this race off of a fourth place finish against statebred stakes runners on an off track. Has had some good races but not sure how he will be able to handle this type of competition.

5. Kermit The Frog (4-2-1-1 $84.800), trained by Greeko Holdem

Here we have a horse who is coming into this race also off of a stakes win and he won the Limehouse right here at Gulfstream at the beginning of the year. That was his first start on the dirt and he took to it great so I think he could have a shot in this race.

6. Ulterior Motive (4-2-1-0 $50.340), trained by Waldo

Next up a front running horse who has been in front in every single one of his races in his career. He was barely beaten in the grade three Nashua last time out and in here I am sure he will probably be in front once again. With the new engine it may help him out but not sure if it will.

7. Hard To Forgive (6-2-0-0 $127.200), trained by Aer Stables

Next up in the field here and this horse is coming into the race in new silks as this will be his first start for this barn. A statebred stakes winner already in the career and the cutback in distance should help his chances out.

8. Creep Away (6-2-1-0 $43.100), trained by Arindel

After being claimed and gelded by this barn only a start in a stakes race here at Gulfstream where he was beaten by most of the field. Trying stakes company once again in here but do not like his chances to upset this field very much.

9. Leas Chance (7-3-0-3 $213.700), trained by Mb Stables

Scratched

10. Grande Creek (7-3-2-0 $205.750), trained by Mb Stables

Second runner for Mb Stables in the field and he is coming into this race off of a win against third level allowance horses at Fair Grounds. He won nicely at six furlongs there and is a graded stakes winner sprinting. Distance should suit him very good.

11. All Gold (5-2-0-0 $24.300), trained by Our Athletes

Scratched

12. Strider (6-2-0-0 $79.200), trained by John Henry

Summary

A pretty nice field here for this race and there are some good sprinters in here for sure. My top pick is on the outside in Grande Creek as I think the seven furlongs will be perfect for him. Good luck to all in the field.
