Swamp Fox Takes Fourstardave

The Fourstardave Handicap – Grade I
1 Mile Inner Turf Stake Purse $500.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Swamp Fox, trained by Blushing Meadows
Although he has been pretty competitive over shorter trips he has run well over this trip before and once again showed how versatile he can be with a nice win today. Travelling just behind the speed he found the turn of foot he needed as the gaps opened up and won by a half length. Another nail in the four year old generation he was the only five year old in the race and managed a very competitive handicap mark to make his presence felt. It will be interesting to see where he goes next as a turf mile run may be his best bet come BC week.

2nd Pass The Pesos, trained by Australia Wide
Rattled home for second but couldnt give the four year olds a win going down by a half length. This was another good effort though and like all of his generation i believe their time will come as the year draws to an end.

3rd Iron Mann, trained by Aer Stables
Kept on pretty bravely for third but once again failed to live up to his home work. There is no doubt this grade one winner has the ability but he keeps finding horses that are too good on the day. Like Pass The Pesos his age is against him at the moment and we may see a better five year old if he is given the chance.

4th King Roja, trained by Mb Stables
Inevitably was thrown into the lead from the wide gate which is the most predictable thing in horse racing at the moment. The other predictable thing is that the wide speed rarely lasts home and thats exactly what happened to him. Beaten just a length though i dont think this was a bad run and there must be some black type in his CV soon.
