T S Razor Makes Her Much Anticipated First Start After Her Large Purchase Pice

The Opelousas Stakes, Purse $100.000, 1 mile an 1/16th, F&M 3+

There is a small but talented field of four fillies and mares signed up this year’s installment of the Opelousas Stakes. This race features a horse who race recently purchased for a large sum of money, and according to one well respected owner I spoke with he felt that should could possibly be the fastest filly in the game. This race also features one horse coming into the race off a stakes win. I know I will be looking forward to seeing how this race turns out.

1-American Standard (D J C Racing Stable)- Is four year old mare that is coming into this race off a recent win earlier in May in an OC at AP. That marked the fourth win for this very consistent horse how has hit the board in 10 out of her 14 lifetime starts. This is her first attempt against a stakes field and it helps that this is a short field. Her recent form leads me to believe that she may be ready for this step up, will it be enough to overcome this tough small field? We will see how it all plays out on Saturday.

2-Maggie Hart (MB Stables)- Is a 3 year old filly who was a recent $35.000 claim, that new owner MB Stables tried to step up and get into the KYO, without success. Maggie Hart ran well in both her KYO prep races but lost by 3 lengths in each race. She was then moved back down to the allowance level last out where she was a nice winner earlier this month at LAD. Her works have been good, so MB Stables decided to step her back up to the stakes level in a realistic spot. Can she get her first stakes win on Saturday, you have to give her a look to be there at the end.

3-Baja Burrito (Buddahbase)- This four year old mare is the lone stakes winner in the field and is coming into the race in great form winning three races in a row, with the most recent being a stakes win at today’s distance. She really seems to be coming into her own this year winning 3 of 4 races this year, which accounts for half of her lifetime wins.   Her recent public works have me a little bit concerned as she seems to be slowing down a bit, with these works slowing down and carrying high weight can this horse overcome this and continue her great form? We will find out soon enough.

4-T S Razor (Australia Wide)- This is a horse that I have been anxiously awaiting to see run after her large purchase by Sanny Village, then quick sale for a profit to current owner Australia Wide. This horse comes in also with great form on a two race win streak. She also boasts some very fast works at all distances on the dirt, as well as great race times.   This biggest obstacle that owner Australia Wide may have is to get this horse to settle behind runners and not run off with an early lead. If he can accomplish this with her I feel that this one will be tough to beat.

This race should be an exciting one with all horses coming into the race of a win. There is one horse I am anxiously awaiting to see how she runs and I think she may be very tough in this spot. Here are my predictions for the race 4-2-1-3. Until next time, may all your photo finishes be winning ones.
