As the gates opened in the slop at EVD two horses jumped out for the lead early, Baja Burrito and American Standard with Baja Burrito being the early pace setter through the first furlong, with Maggie Hart stalking in third and the big purchase T S Razor trailing the field in fourth. Everyone held form through the first quarter in 24 an 4 as they continued their journey. Four furlongs into the race the running order had not changed as Baja Burrito appeared to be on a comfortable one length lead going a half mile in 49 flat. With about three furlongs left Maggie Hart and T S Razor started to show that they liked running in the slop and kicked it into high gear, and started to make their move on American Standard. With just over two furlongs to go both had put away American Standard and were gunning for the long time leader Baja Burrito, with T S Razor traveling the best at this time. With a furlong and a half left the complexion changed and T S Razor passed both Maggie Hart and a tiring Baja Burrito. Maggie Hart attempted to go with T S Razor in the last furlong but just could not keep pace and T S Razor powered home to victory while Maggie Hart finished second, with Baja Burrito finishing third and American Standard bringing up the rear. This was an impressive run for the winner and I look for her to continue to do great things moving forward. Lets look at the breakdown and race payouts.
