Tabitha Takes The Lake Placid as The Punters Choose The Wrong Stable Mate.

The Lake Placid – Grade II
1 1/16 Mile Inner Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.

1st Tabitha Stephens Mb Stables Cedillo A

Because of the nature of HRP what a horse has achieved has very little to do with what it will achieve. This filly was bought for $125 and then raced three times in mid level overnight races winning two of them. Que today and she is thrown in a grade two and duly does the business over horses that had been running and winning in stakes races for a while. To be fair it wasn’t unexpected with the champion trainer we see this happen all the time and she had to work really hard to get the win Just getting past the long time leader in the shadows of the post and holding her late finishing stable companion. With 4 wins from 6 starts she is clearly a filly with a future and i wonder whether we will see her thrown into a grade one in the next few weeks in an attempt at a late run at the BC Fillies and Mares.

2nd Have One On Me Nakamura Stables Hernandez R M

Got away with a good lead on an even pace and i thought it was enough to see her home but as the last stride came she just got nutted. Clearly very much at home on the turf she is another that may be recycled in a few weeks as she is clearly a filly that can run.

3rd Wander Mb Stables Velazquez J R

Didn’t use the gate like her stable companion and i felt that may have cost her the win as her strong late finish wasn’t timed quite right. Already pretty successful on both surfaces she may be the sort t pick up some late races and side step the BC.

4th Glitter Bright Broken Spoke Stables Ferrer J C

Ran to her running style and did very well to be beaten just a length in the end although she never looked likely to be any closer.
