Got going to bravely win his maiden over this trip but found the wide draw and step up to stakes grade too much next out running last in the Jerome. I am sure he is better than that last start and the better draw today will suit, one feels the questions will be answered today one way or the other.

2 Dollar Collector Broken Spoke Stables Alvarado J

Back to dirt after breaking his maiden on turf and then running a very close fourth in the Atlantic Beach he must’ve shown the trainer enough on this surface to warrent another go on it. I think ultimately his future may be on turf but he gets the perfect draw today to get involved in this.

3 Valyrian Station Gdp Inc Carmouche K

Followed up his maiden win with an optional Claiming win last time but although he is a consistent sort he has yet to face this class. His works arent too bad and the draw is good so he should again run an honest race.

4 Kowloon City Nakamura Stables Vargas J A

Another that comes back to dirt after winning two races on turf he certainly looks better suited to that surface but gets a chance today. The mile suits and the trainer is in great form but its a stretch to see this one being successful.

5 Sakaiminato Team 7 Illusions Lezcano J

Recently bought for $100 this gelding took a long time to break his maiden but when he did he did it in style. Again a majority of his form is on turf but the fact that his turf works are better than the turf winners in the race and his dirt works are better than the dirt runners suggests he will quickly repay the investment his new trainer made. Improving and ready for win number two.

6 Savage Night Mare Racing Gutierrez R

Looking at the works and the manner in which he won his debut its a shame that he wasted the victory at the free track. That win came on turf but i think that was done on purpose in the hope he wouldnt win because a month later he was working 1.36 and 3 on the dirt. He could turn out to be anything and is the dark horse in the race for sure.

7 Magical Emperor La Canada Racehorses Franco M

One of the more exposed runners in the field he was fifth in the grade one Breeders Futurity and that is probably the best form in the race. He has been a little disappointing in his first two starts this year so this is his chance to get back on track despite an awkward draw.

8 Walk Of Faith First Street Stables Davis D

He has won two from three at a much lower grade but actually looks a lot better than that. The wide draw will make it very tough and that in itself may be the prime factor but he should certainly be in the top half of the field if the race engine is kind.

SUMMARY

I think Sakaiminato will win this and if he doesnt he may go back to turf where i think he will eventually be good enough for graded stakes. Magical Emperor has the form but has something to prove but i rather like Savage to turn out to be the biggest danger.
