Tears Flow as the Great Eight-Year-Old Marches On

The Hillsborough Stakes – Grade II
1 1/8 Mile Turf Stake Purse $225.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st Devil Wears Prada Axeman Centeno D E

Just how great is this mare. What a thrill it s to be able to write about this eight year old year after year and what a testament to the old late and long development that used to be in operation at HRP many years ago. As todays three year olds peak at three and decline at five we may never see the likes of her again but she is looking as good as ever and is closing in on the $3,000.000 in prize money mark which she will certainly pass this year. Running her usual gutsy race she beat a field half her age by a game half length and atleast until the three year olds run at weight for age she is the queen that wears Prada.

2nd Rainy Day Woman John Henry Lopez P

Went to the front from her wide gate, one of the most predictable things at HRP and what was also predictable was that she would struggle to hold on and that was the case. She kept on bravely for second and is clearly a much improved filly on the turf.

3rd By Far Ideal Maxmillion Farm Lynch F

Got a good enough passage in the race but couldnt quicken and just whacked away for third in a time almost a second slower than her win in the Frankel last time out.

4th Blue Jeans First Class Stable Lanerie C J

A huge disappointment making no ground from her starting position.
