Ten Ready to Tackle The Sweet Life Stakes

The Sweet Life Stakes – GIII

Three Year Olds Fillies

A field of ten turf sprinting three year old fillies has been entered up to contest the third ever running of the grade three Sweet Life Stakes over the Santa Anita turf course. Lets take a look at the field.

1. Appealing Jewel (7-3-2-0 $106.810), trained by Fractious

First entry in the field here and she is coming into this race off of a two race win streak. She has ran well every time around one turn on the grass and has won some nice races. She takes a step up here though and will have to run huge.

2. Royally Bred (7-3-1-1 $147.260), trained by High Voltage

Next filly in the field here and she is coming into this race off of a win on the SSM F/M Turf Sprint over the same course and distance. If she can translate that stakes win to this race she should be very tough to beat.

3. Bronx Fun (5-1-1-1 $52.800), trained by Estero Farms

Now to this filly who is coming into this race off of a tough second place finish in a first level allowance race at Gulfstream on a good turf. She has the ability to compete with these but she just does not seem to find the winners circle.

4. Win For Red (5-1-2-0 $44.180), trained by Establo Pichon

Up next in the field right here is this filly and she is coming into this race off of a win in a maiden special weight down the hill back in November. She is taking a big step up in class in here so she will need to run a huge race to get the money.

5. Assertive (6-3-1-1 $139.800), trained by Mb Stables

Up in this field next right here is this filly who is coming into this race off of a win in a first level allowance race at Fair Grounds at this same distance. She is already a stakes winner and she should be pretty tough to beat in here.

6. Call Sarah (2-1-0-0 $18.000), trained by First Street Stables

Onto this filly now and she is coming into this race off of a maiden breaking score up at Golden Gate where she won on a soft turf course by two lengths. She won nicely but this is a huge jump up in class and I don’t see her fairing very well.

7. Pirate Army (5-1-2-1 $56.110), trained by Sccj Stables

And now to this filly who is entering this race off of a maiden breaking win over this same turf course but it was around two turns at a mile. She is cutting back in here but I do think she is better at farther distances.

8. Big City Kitty (6-1-2-2 $199.900), trained by Our Athletes

Up next is my top choice in the field here and she was third in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint last year. She has been close in two graded stakes already and I think she will finally get the money in this race.

9. Its A Curse (3-3-0-0 $19.700), trained by Double Cross Ranch

The only undefeated filly in this field here and she is coming off of two wins in optional claimers at Tampa Bay and Turf Paradise. This is a very big jump up in class but she has done no wrong yet and maybe she can keep rolling in here.

10. Start Your Engine (3-1-2-0 $31.100), trained by Jediminds Stable

And now to the final filly in this field who will be making her first ever start on the lawn in here. She won a maiden special weight at Golden Gate in her last start and ran nicely. She is unknown on the surface and has a very tough post to overcome.

Summary

A very nice field has been entered up for this race and there is some nice fillies in here. My top choice is Big City Kitty as I think she will get her first big win in this spot. Good luck to all in the field.
