The work continues over at Big Sandy, so we make the ten-mile trip from Elmont to Jamaica and look at the field for The Sands Point (GII), and mile and an eighth turf stakes for the sophomore ladies.  Talk about a race with an evenly matched group, this certainly fits the bill.  I’ll take Diamond Pearls as the slight favorite, coming in fresh off of a six-month vacation.  She won the Lacombe at FG and was third in the Providencia at SA before going on the shelf.  She has a 3/2/1 from eight career starts, runs well fresh and I think she will run a big race today.  I’ll give Poetic Panther a big look in this one as well… she’s a horse that just doesn’t ever run a bad race and no reason to think she will here.
