Three Year Olds Fillies
1st Tenrikyo, trained by Smokey Stover
Well no doubt this was kind of a surprise winner to me as I did not really see the filly getting the win but she definitely proved me wrong. She was next to last early on and made a great rally to get up for the length victory. She ran the race in 1:41.67 and earned $300.000 and also a berth into the Kentucky Oaks.
2nd Z Command, trained by Joshua Stables
The outside post definitely worked against this filly as she was forced to go to the lead basically instead of getting too far back. She was out in front doing all of the hard work and she fought all the way pretty good as she was only defeated a length in the end. She also earned a spot in the Kentucky Oaks field.
3rd Blazing By, trained by Mb Stables
This filly right here also ran a pretty good race to end finishing third and she was only beaten by a length. She sat in second early on and was in a nice spot but just couldn’t go by the runner up. She is now fifteenth on the Oaks leaderboard so if Mb Stables doesn’t run one of his in front of her she may make the Oaks field.
4th Cannolo, trained by D J C Racing Stables
This filly ran a good race also but I am sure that her trainer was hoping for a little more. She sat in a stalking position early on and just couldn’t pass the second and third place finishers down the lane. She is eleventh on the Oaks leaderboard so depending on the outcome of the Fantasy at Oaklawn she has a good chance of making the Oaks field.
Summary
A very close finish to this race right here with only a length separating the top four. All of the top four finishers have a chance at making the Kentucky Oaks field based on the outcome of the last prep race. Tenrikyo ran a huge race to win and will be one of the favorites come Oaks day. Congratulations to Tenrikyo and Smokey Stover.
