Top Flight Handicap Draws Five.

Interesting group of entries for this years running of the Top Flight here at AQU this Saturday. While we may or may not see rain, it will definitely be a bit cloudy and perhaps a little cooler then normal. Style Cant Spoil ( Night Rider Stables ) out of sire Commanding may get a slight edge as the only Graded winner in the group, but watch for other to be spoilers to that plan.

  • The Top Flight Handicap Purse $200.000
  • Aqueduct Racetrack, Four fillies Four years old and upward
  • Mile and an eighth in the dirt
  • Saturday April 13th, 2019

Lets take a summary of runners for this event, and see how they stack up for the race;

1. Goosebumps ( Smokey Stover ) Jockey Cancel E – Since her purchase back last July, her new interest had big plans for this then three year old, stepping her right up to Grade I company. After two unsuccessful attempts at that level, competed against some OpClm62.5 company and won by some three lengths. Showed a great closing effort in the Bayako last time out, and should gain from that experience. Up late here.

2. Style Cant Spoil ( Night Rider Stables ) Jockey Lezcano J – Closed out last season taking home top prize in the Gr. III Maple Leaf Stakes at WO. Opened this season with a fourth place finish in the Ladies Handicap, but that came over the sloppy going over this oval. Must consider the fact that she has been absent from racing since Jan 20th, but trainer has been keeping to his regiment of a work 3-4 days prior to a race. Has the talent.

3. Oyster Puff ( Mb Stables ) Jockey Alvarado J – Trainer has reenlisted the services of a rider who took her to victory in the $100 Ladies Handicap. Shipped quickly to the west where she competed in the Gr. II Santa Monica Stakes, but came up short in 5th.That was at a shorter seven eights of a mile, and will prefer this longer affair. Will be close at the wire.

4. Get Controlled ( Team 7 Illusions ) Jockey Carmouche K – A recent claim to join one of the top breeding barns in the game. In this ones past nine starts, her record is ( 4-3-0-2 ), cashing a check in each event. While she has No stakes wins in her resume, no matter what the surface, she always gives 110 percent. Will probably be close to the frontend early, and could very well run away with this at some pricey odds.

5. Snakie Pleasure ( Maxmillion Farm ) Jockey Davis D – Interesting story with this bay filly, she looked poised to break her maiden at Calder, but placed runner-up in that event. Stepped up into an Alw47 event with an extra half a furlong, and walked away with the victory. Both those affairs were quite quick races, and while she showed some early speed in the Bayako last time out, she faded, with the distance. May find the further distance here challenging. Outsider.

Duffers Picks- ( 2-1-3 )
