The 2026 BC Sprint Preview – Continued

We continue our pre-coverage of the BC Sprint and with all of the “Win and You’re In” races being completed, we know that four are set, if the barns are inclined to go.

——————————————————————————-

Our top points leader, Diametric, seems set to go in the Classic, so that could open a spot.

Superbush has a couple of recent seconds but has not had his picture taken since April, and that could be a concern.

I would expect Exploration Bay to be in the mix, although they could opt for the Dirt Mile after a couple of runner-up efforts in the O’Brien (GII) and Vosburgh (GIII).  You know the big barn will make the right choice… they always do.

We know that Max will have Creepy Romantic in the starting gate, although he certainly did not fire his best shot in the SA Sprint Cup (GII), last out.  Still, his wins in the Aristides (GIII) and Crosby (GI) makes him a force.

The big barn has Silver Hurricane in fine form.  This one has been sprinting in his last pair, coming off of the TC Trail and the aftermath of that.  He just missed in the Jerkins Mem (GI) and won the Gallant Bob (GII) so this one is about as sharp as you could hope for a horse to be.

Star Vault is next on the list and another from Mb Stables.  He’s one of those horses that seems to like 7f better than either 6f or a mile, so I’m not sure which way they will go with him, but I have to believe the Dirt Mile is more to his aptitude.

Another that is on a streak of bad races is Only Way Is Up, as the 7yo has been off the board in three of his last four starts.  He was a tiring third in the Crosby (GI) so he still has some ammo in the weapon.  Can the old boy find some magic?

I think we can throw out that last race for Chilled Niagra.  KD can be a tricky spot and he was closing fast in that race.  Other than that, he hasn’t missed a check all year.  I think the barn is really happy with this one and he should be on his toes.

Need Cash Now from the big barn has been less than impressive of late, to the point where they ran him in a $12.00 Alw race at BTP even though he has a GI win in the Stephens.  Is he another that may like the mile a bit more?

Wizardly is a lightly raced 3yo that is making the most of his trips to the gate.  Four wins in a row, took the Jerkens Mem in game fashion and looks to be about as sharp as you could ever hope for.  He’s going to need to turn up the speed a bit at this distance.
