The Bison City Will Take Some Winning With A Competitive Field

Bison City Stakes
 WO Race #3 1 1/16m Dirt Stake
Purse $250.000 For Fillies Three Years Old Foaled In Canada.

1 Low Budget Java Nakamura Stables Luzzi L J

This race looks a great option for this filly who hasn’t won since her seasonal debut in the Martha Washington but has run in some big races and accounted for herself pretty well. Her best efforts since that win came at this trip when third in the grade two Alexandra and then a close fourth in the mother Goose and she looks to this nice prize for some much deserved compensation. Disappointing last time on an off track, ignoring that run and from this ace draw she looks a winning chance.

2 Cardano Mo Mentum Farm Van Dyke D

Like her names sake has struggled to be more than mediocre despite some early promise. She is nothing but consistent and it is worth noting that her impressive maiden win came over the mile but she does have to shake that recent bridesmaid record. She gets a great draw and should be included in those exotic bets but at the end of the day she seems to lack what will be needed down the stretch.

3 Maui County Smokey Stover Hernandez R M

Yet another successful female from the Smokey Hareem she has won four from six, gets the good draw and will almost certainly be many peoples idea of the winner. She ran well in the mud in the Gazelle but was then disappointing in the Summertime Oaks which does make me question her ability to beat one or two of these.

4 Paris Broadway Arindel Velazquez J R

This one really does look an outstanding chance in this race having by far the best overall record in the race. Bought for $185 as a two year old she went on to rock the TC qualifiers with a win against the boys in the Davis Stakes and then backed that up against her own sex when taking the FG Oaks. Those wins made her favorite for the KYO but whilst she was prominent the whole way she ended up a length off the eventual winner in sixth. A sub par run in the Acorn was put behind her in the WO Oaks where she ran a good third and it really is hard to see past that form in an ungraded state bred stakes race.

5 Poison Candy Glorify Stables Franco M

She kept running good races but getting beat at maiden level until finally putting it together over this course and distance as a two year old. That is her only win which does send the alarm bells ringing against this above average field but she has continued to run well in good races most notably when second in the SA oaks. She certainly has a good enough record but again i worry about her speed in a finish and would put her in my trifecta’s for a solid place rather than be backing her to win.

6 Third Gear Smokey Stover Cedillo A

The second runner from the stable she has been on an extended break in the paddock since a great win in the Black Eyed Susan back in May. She is only a little filly and may have been put away to do some growing but she hasn’t really grown at all since that win and she comes back here as a filly with a big future that may just need the run. Her works have been really solid and if she is forward enough she would be the main danger to Paris Broadway.

7 Bella Chica Mb Stables Saez L

Mb Stables finds themselves in the familiar wide draw with a filly that beat Paris Broadway in the WO Oaks last time and is the highest earner in the race. That win last time out gives her the edge on form over the filly i have already said looks a huge chance so she must got into the top two spot and will certainly be a winning chance. A stakes winner at two and three the draw is the biggest question mark but if the race engine is kind she could be a nice wedding present for the trainer.

9 Orange Creek Iolaus Racing Bocachica A

This winner of five from eight may just be the dark horse in the race running from the car park. She has won three from four since being purchased for $200 and although this is the furthest she has been since October last year she may just be ready for a longer trip now. If the pace is hot and she doesn’t start too slowly she may well be in the race down the stretch.

SUMMARY

This is a very nice race for an ungraded state bred race with three or four good filly’s that wouldn’t be out of place in a grade one. Paris Broadway may just have the edge over Bella Chica with the better draw, Third Gear should run well but may need the run and could well fill the third spot.
