Cavada Breeders Classic Draws Salty Group of 4 Fillies and Mares

The WV Cavada Breeders Classic, Purse $150.000, Ungraded, 7 Furlongs, Dirt 3+ Fillies an Mares

Today is a big day of racing for the WV bred horses as there are 9 stakes races her today at CT for WV bred horses. This race here is the 2nd highest purse on the card and is the highlight of the day for the fillies and mares. Today’s race will be run at that ever tricky 7 furlong distance. Let’s take a look at the field and see if we can separate some of these runners :

1-Jazzmin (The Sidley Stud)- This 3 year old comes into the race having run 18 times with 5 of those starts resulting in wins. She comes into the race in good form having won 2 out of her last 3 races with her only loss being a 2nd place finish in the slop in a stakes race. The highlight win in that stretch is a win in an overnight stake going todays distance here at CT. She is a 3 times stakes winner and all of those stakes wins have come at CT. Also 4 of her 5 career wins have come here at CT so its safe to say she likes this surface. She has not posted a public work since her last race but has to be given a big look based upon her recent form and success at CT

2-You Aing Gon Like (Team 7 Illusions)- She comes into the race with 4 wins in 10 career starts and 3 wins in her last 4 starts with her lone non win being a 3rd place finish. All of her wins have come in state bred races in WV and 3 of her 4 wins have come here at CT. She is also proven at this distance as she won going this same trip 2 races back in an overnight stake. She is also a multiple stakes winner here at CT. She has posted solid works after that last win and her recent form will make her a tough customer in this race.

3-Deadly Leviation (Hambeltonian Stables)- This 5 year old has started 18 times with 3 wins. 2 of those 3 wins have come since she was claimed for $12.500 back in February 2015. Both of those wins since the claim have come here at CT, one of them going 4.5 furlongs and the other 7 furlongs. Her last win came in her last start and that was the 7 furlong race against state bred O/C company. She has yet to break through in a stakes race and hopes that the recent win going this distance will help propel her to victory. She is facing tough field as some others have already done this, so It will be a tough task.

4-Ghastly (Asgar)- She has started 18 times with 2 wins but 11 second place finishes. The positive for her is one of the wins did come on this CT track in an overnight stake. The bad news is that win was in June of 2014 and she has not managed to win one since then. She was claimed in April of 2015 and since that claim she has run in 4 straight stakes race with 3 second place finishes. In her most recent race she finished 2nd in a stake at Del Mar. She has trained well since that race, and is hoping that she can get back to her winning ways by going back to CT for a state bred race.

Today is one of the bigger race days you will see at CT all year long and it appears to have brought out the best WV bred horses. Even though this is a small field there are some battle tested stakes horse that have signed on and they can be hard to separate. Here is my prediction: 1-4-2-3
