The Lake Placid – Grade II
1 1/16 Mile Inner Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.
1st Summers Day First Street Stables Pennington F
The ground came up with a bit of moisture in it which certainly didn’t harm this fillies chances and she looked pretty good in taking the race by just under a length. Running a very similar race to when she won the Lake George last time she is proving a very consistent filly who is moving through the grades with ease and in a year when there are very few serious three year olds around she must start to look like she is coming right at the right time.
2nd Rose Petals Mb Stables Garcia Mar
Came from a mile behind to grab second after a slow start, an odd race for a filly that won a stakes race by leading all the way last time. Once again we saw how a horse can be changed and manipulated by instructions, not the most realistic thing about HRP, but nonetheless this was a big effort. Clearly there is ability here and if the trainer can work the instructions out a race like this is not beyond her capability.
3rd Buckingham Palace Smokey Stover Alvarado J
Improved on her poor effort in the BEL Oaks with a much better effort here. Stalking the leaders she kept on pretty well without quickening.
4th Versailles D J C Racing Stables Vargas J A Jr
Another one that decided to change her running style she flew home for fourth just a length off the winner. We wont know whether it was the off track that spread this field out but this was a good show regardless and there should be some black type in this ones future.
