1. Phantom Protocol (#1)

Form:

Ultra‑consistent filly with two wins and a strong WO allowance victory (94). Her figures are reliable (89–94) and she finishes races off well. She has already shown she can handle fast fractions and still produce a late punch.

Works:

Her 27 Aug WO 6f in 1:10.4 (1/5) is one of the best works in the entire field. Earlier SAR drills were steady and progressive.

Verdict:

Excellent work pattern + improving form. A major player if she stays the 7f having already won at black type level.

2. Susan Lots Of Ice (#2)

Form:

Good maiden win and a solid CTBA Stakes third (93). She’s honest but tends to flatten slightly late against stronger company.

Works:

Her mile works are pretty good for a juvenile at this time of year and her 6 furlong works certainly in the ball park

Verdict:

Needs a perfect trip and will get it from this gate. She hails from a stable in great form and capable of winning a race like this. She has been close up in strong company, this extra furlong could be key to opening up her winning chances.

3. Acapulco Angel (#3)

Form:

Three starts, all strong, including a 92 fig at GP and a sharp ALB allowance win. She’s improving and has tactical speed.

Works:

Mixed circuit works but 16 Jul GP 6f in 1:11.2 (1/2) stands out. Recent MTH 5f in :58.2 is sharp and suggests she’s holding form.

Verdict:

Good works + rising form. A sleeper who could surprise because lets face it this stable has been in great form this year. She does have a bit to find as her state bred effort whilst good was not at this level.

4. Sassette (#4)

Form:

Graded‑quality filly with a 94 fig in the Adirondack (G3) and a near‑miss in the CD Debutante. She’s already proven at top level.

Works:

Her 1 Sep DMR 5f :58.1 (2/51) is elite. SAR and PRX works were steady, but this DMR drill shows she’s peaking.

Verdict:

Top‑class form + explosive recent work. A major win threat from a player that will be hoping she can turn the promise into wins after paying $925 for her.

5. Doubtville Gal (#5)

Form:

Big, strong filly with a good ELP Debutante second (92). She can be sluggish early but finishes well.

Works:

Her 27 Jul MTH 6f 1:11 (7/88) is solid.

Verdict:

The problem I have with this nice sort is that she seems to be a deep closer and that is often the kiss of death with this on speed engine. Of course closers do win and she could well do that but things have to go just right unless she responds to the gaming buttons.

6. No Fear (#6)

Form:

Two starts, one win, but figures (82–91) are below G1 level.

Works:

Only one meaningful work: 26 Aug SAR 6f 1:11 (13/63). Not bad, but not enough depth publicly to go on.

Verdict:

The stable has been firing on all cylinders and has certainly announced themselves this year with some very nice juveniles. I liked her win and her work and the fact that she is here suggests so does the trainer.

7. Queen Rain (#7)

Form:

Two wins at softer circuits; ALB win was fine but not graded‑level.

Works:

Her 30 Aug DMR 6f 1:11.3 (25/73) is respectable. Earlier WO and LAD works were sharp.

Verdict:

Works are OK, but form is below this class and she will have to step up to be a real threat. Deserves her shot but she has a bit to prove.

8. Eye Appeal (#8)

Form:

The most complete résumé: 3 wins, including a G3 Sorrento second (91) and a CD Debutante win (92). Always runs 89–94.

Works:

DMR works are consistently fast:

• 2 Aug 6f 1:11.1 (14/46)
• 22 Jul 5f :58.2 (4/86)

She’s holding top form and showing no regression.

Verdict:

Rock‑solid form + flawless work pattern. The filly to beat. She is likely to get the outside speed push and there is no trainer better than this one at getting them to clear the field and control the pace. She is the likely favourite and with that the probable winner.

9. Retrograde Amnesia (#9)

Form:

Strong maiden win at DMR (93). Lightly raced but talented.

Works:

DMR drills are excellent:

• 9 Aug 6f 1:11 (12/39)

She’s working like a stakes filly.

Verdict:

Works are top‑tier, but form is still developing. Could outrun odds but is lumped with an outside draw again. She will probably look to stalk so will need the race engine to cooperate but with the horse inside her likely to go for the lead she may get a chance to slot in. I feel she may be the stable second string but is not without a chance.

Race Summary

Two year old races are always tough but the big two ‘spenders/breeders’ are represented here with big hopes and the market will likely favour their three runners. They are likely to dominate the early speed and if they are not pushed may just see it through but I rather like No Fear here as a chance at possibly rewarding odds.
