We saw all three things here that make HRP what it is. We saw a super improved four year old who has seen a one second improvement in 5 furlong works culminate in going from claimers to stakes winner. We saw a three year old with just average form nearly overcome mediocrity and win and we saw weight make the difference between a check and going home with nothing.

1st Im Special Jkk Racing Stables Desormeaux K J

Working faster than most sprinters over 5 furlongs wouldn’t mean in real life that you had a good router but here at HRP trip doesn’t really matter when it comes to works and what the works did tell us was that this four year old was going through the transformation from claimer to stakes winner. Just worse than midfield it took a bit of toughness to get the nose win. With allowances being as hard as stakes races these days there is no reason why we wont see this one moving up a level and doing well in his next start.

2nd Wellington Or Bust Aml Racing Garcia Mar

I was surprised to see this one and not the other three year old in the finish but this was a good effort by a horse that was getting all favors from the weights but not from the draw. As long as he stays against the older he looks good enough to win at this level and his works are certainly saying he is still improving.

3rd One Command Chili King Stables Arroyo N Jr

Stayed on well to be a length behind in third he looks the type to keep earning his way even if superstar status isnt on his radar.

4th Inicnam Our Athletes Prat F

Like most of the field apart from the ill fated front runner he stayed on from further back to take fourth in the end. After his good allowance win last time out you would have to say this is a little disappointing and he looks another who should pay his way without being a world beater.
