The Endeavour

The Endeavour BC – Grade III
TAM Race #7 1 1/16m Turf Graded Stake
Purse $175.000 For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward.

1 Proper Pan Farms Cotto P L Jr 122 —

Well the races don’t get any easier to pick a winner as the Honeymoon Stakes winner heads the field for the Endeavour. She went off the boil after that win so comes here with a little bit to prove but as a winner in this grade she deserves consideration. This trip may be more to her liking that her last two races, but she was poor enough in those races to let slide from my selections.

2 Smiling Lucy Nakamura Stables VillGomez H 122 —

Won 12 races on the dirt then switched to turf for only the second time in 31 starts and romped home in 1.33 flat, you do the form!! Anyway, this is a decent six-year-old that has performed at this level and with a new love for the green stuff and the perfect draw. She has to be given a sound chance.

3 Bombing For Peace Jerry Garcia Racing Lopez J E 122 —

Won the grade one BEL Oaks after a third in the Regret, but then for some reason fell apart. It may have been that she was taking on older horses, but for her next four starts she was anonymous, even at optional claimer level last time out. Being a grade one winner, it is impossible to write her off and her works say she retains that ability so put her on your short list for sure.

4 Scam Dancer TwinTowersRacing Evans C 122 —

This is just the sort of runner from the stable that trips me up every time. She has been running at a good level and was only a length off them in the Beldame and comes here for her second start on turf after a tune up at SA in a sprint. It is impossible to weigh her up in a turf race, but she loves the trip and there must be a reason she is back on the grass today.

5 Camus Mo Mentum Farm Camacho Sa 122 —

Won three in a row before taking on the QE II and didn’t run too badly to be sixth in that competitive grade one. She was a length behind grade one winner and rival Bombing For Peace so must be considered especially as she got back to winning ways last time. She seems to be a natural on pace type which can help on this engine, but she still has something to prove at this level.

6 Love Is Free Iolaus Racing Cedeno C 122 —

I have seen plenty of the prodigy of Bronx Bomber mature late and now this fairly consistent sort has reached the magic age of five we may just see her start to make the mark she always promised to. If we go back two years, we saw her flying home to be fourth beaten just a neck in the QE II so anything like that form makes her a serious chance here.

7 Breath Of The Bride Smokey Stover Castanon J L 122 —

You would expect one from this stable to be pretty accomplished and she has done pretty well, taking the San Clemente Stakes last year. She was very close up in the Suwanee River last time out so must be respected, but I don’t like these middling draws and I am always wary of four-year-olds at this time of year.

8 Cmonyalll Arindel Morales P 122 —

Went back to the drawing board after a terrible run in the Sheepshead Bay and seems to have enjoyed the break from the top grade. Winning three in a row, she threw a 1.36 and 2 on the dirt last time suggesting she is sharp for today’s race. She is a five-year-old and we all know why I think that is good, so she may well be my best choice.

9 Poetic Panther Maletto Martinez W 122 —

So many three-year-old turned four with similar form lines that it will be interesting to see which are the ones that don’t have a flat season and kick on through the year. This one has all the credentials and has the advantage of a run this year where she cruised home in a State bred. She may be one of those that gets forgotten and comes in at a big price.

10 Wasabi D J C Racing Stables Hiraldo J 122 —

Well, as I seem to write so often, the car park goes to D J C’s runner, but it may not be the disadvantage it is for others. She has snippets of form and has always run as a closer so there is a scenario where a fast pace is set and this filly storms home late and wide for some prize money. The other thing is this is her first run on turf and that can always pull out a performance, so I would definitely keep an eye on her.

SUMMARY

Another race that makes it so hard to invest the Disney Dollars wisely. I think Cmonyall may be worth a shot and Love Is Free may be ready for a big effort so for the sake of having to pick something then it will be those two that carry my 10 credits each way.
