In the end, it IS good to be King…  Broomstick Classic, trained by Australia Wide, put the famous white and purple silks into the winner’s circle, taking Saturday’s FL Sire Stakes – Unbridled by a length, getting the best of Mb Stables Red Crimson in a time of 1:22.13 for the seven panels.

The field of four got away well with Reel Star showing speed from the outside, Red Crimson next to that one, then Broomstick Classic and Happened Again from the rail.

Making their way down the backside, now four and a half furlongs to run, Red Crimson moved up to take a neck lead.  Reel Star off of the rail in second, a length back to Broomstick Classic and Happened Again was at the back, three lengths from the leader.

Around the far turn and to the top of the lane, a quarter mile to run, Red Crimson on the inside, Reel Star between horses, Broomstick Classic now up to join in three wide and Happened Again at the rear.

Now inside the furlong marker and the two favorites were going at it… Broomstick Classic up to stick a neck in front, Red Crimson asked for more, Reel Star now tiring a bit and Happened Again needed to get going or this one was going to be over.

Down to the final 150-yards and to the finish, Broomstick Classic just had everything where he wanted it and cruised under the wire in front.  Red Crimson settled for second, Reel Star in third and Happened Again closed this one out.

Broomstick Classic is a 3yo altered son of Broomstick Mill Reef – El Gran Is Foxy, by El Gran Senor, and he was bred in FL by Drabfantasy.  Purchased by Australia Wide for $95.000 via private sale, he now shows five wins from seven starts while taking every race under the tutelage of AW – a perfect four-for-four, and he has earnings of $191.760.
