The Forego looks To Launch a BC Hopeful To The Big Day

The Forego – Grade I [BC]

SAR     Race #6 7f  Dirt GI
Purse $500.00  For Three Year Olds And Upward

1. Valyrian Needle – Mb Stables

Race Performance

One of the most reliable 6f sprinters in the field. His Vanderbilt run is elite:

“25Jul26‑6SAR … 6f … 1:082 … 2nd by a neck … 99 figure.” He consistently runs 1:08–1:09 for 6f and owns multiple G3-level 99–100 figures.

Works

Explosive recent drills:

“7Aug26 MTH 6f fst 1:10 H (1/220)” “18Jul26 PRX 6f fst 1:10 H (1/42)” These are top‑of‑the‑morning works. He’s peaking.

Verdict: With three runners the GOAT of HRP is strong handed as usual as they look to dominate this BC qualifier. The best drawn of those is this one who gets the inside for an easy run through to get on speed where he is most happy. Starting the year at allowance level he has progressed to compete in some top sprints and whilst he hasn’t won any of them he has placed twice and been close up every time. As a five year old he is mature enough to be approaching his best and clearly has the pace to be right in this for a long way. His works are the stand out here showing continued improvement and whilst he isn’t a clear top choice he certainly goes into the big chances pile.

2. Mamba – D J C Racing Stables

Race Performance

A grinder who hits the board often. His recent Saratoga allowance:

“19Jul26‑3SAR … 2nd by a neck … 98‑4 figure.” He runs mid‑90s consistently but rarely wins.

Works

Strong recent 5f/6f moves:

“23Aug26 SAR 5f :57.3 H (1/18)” “15Aug26 BEL 6f 1:11.3 (1/9)” These are surprisingly sharp, suggesting he’s sitting on a big effort.

Verdict: His works say there is some ability under the surface that is just waiting to explode but on form he does have a bit to find. He has been there or thereabouts in some good races so he is no forlorn hope but he does need to find something today to make him a contender.

3. Dont Fear The Reaper – TwinTowersRacing

Race Performance

Best recent run was on turf:

“5Jul26‑4SAR … turf … 2nd by a nose … 98‑5.” Dirt sprint form is solid but not elite; tends to flatten late at 7f.

Works

Mixed but decent:

“16Jun26 AQU 6f(T) fm 1:09.2 (1/12)” “15Apr26 AQU 6f fst 1:10.1 (3/39)” Good works, but not as sharp as the top contenders.

Verdict: If anyone can pull one out of their back pocket it is this stable but this does look a tough race for this five year old. He certainly has ability but with just 4 wins from 31 starts it is hard to make much of a case for him. On the plus side his works are good and he is a pacey sort so with a suitable draw and the somewhat random nature of some of the races at HRP you just never know.

4. Mighty – John Henry

Race Performance

Very strong graded sprint form:

“30Apr26‑4CD … StMatt200 … 1st by a head … 99‑3.” “30May26‑4CD … G3 … 2nd by a neck … 100 figure.” He’s a true 6–7f specialist.

Works

Ultra-consistent 1:10–1:11 range:

“13Aug26 MTH 6f 1:10.1 (1/73)” “4Aug26 MTH 6f 1:10.1 (3/76)” He’s holding peak form.

Verdict: Bought for $275 from the Team 7 Illusions fire sale he is an improving four year old that showed in his last start in May that he is a strong sprinter. His works are consistently good but he has been away for a while so may need this race to bring him to his best. If fit enough he is certainly a winning chance.

5. Mystic Freak Party – Maxmillion Farm

Race Performance

Strong allowance win at Saratoga:

“26Jul26‑4SAR … 1st by 1 … 97 figure.” Always runs 94–97, very consistent.

Works

Excellent Saratoga drills:

“9Aug26 SAR 6f 1:10 (2/35)” “22Jul26 SAR 5f :57.4 (1/18)” These are elite sprinter works.

Verdict: Four year olds can often take their time coming to hand after a strong three year old year and this one has been given plenty of time to find their improvement curve again. His last start win certainly seemed to scream I am ready and with the newly crowned sprint king in great form he may be a big chance.

6. I Want It All – Luz International

Race Performance

One of the classiest sprinters in the field.

“16May26‑7LRL … G3 … 1st by 1 … 100 figure.” His Crosby run was solid despite traffic: “25Jul26‑7DMR … 6f … 96 figure.”

Works

Monster drill:

“3Aug26 EVD 6f 1:10 (1/1)” He’s clearly tuned for speed.

Verdict: Wider gates do not suit this closer as they tend to throw him too far back but this mid field draw should suit him and if he can lay up in midpack off a strong pace then he could be finishing over the top late if the race engine gives him the gaps.

7. Overtime – Luz International

Race Performance

A breakout horse in 2026:

“18Jul26‑3ALB … 1st by 1½ … 97 figure.” Four wins from six starts this year.

Works

Strong and steady:

“16Aug26 EVD 6f 1:10 (1/1)” “22Jun26 LS 5f :58 (4/13)” He’s improving with every start.

Verdict: A strong hand for Luz here with their second runner, already a stakes winner over this trip, working some lightening times. On paper he is not as good as his stable mate but again midpack may be the place to be with a likely strong pace so it will all come down to the timing and the race engine.

8. Obi Wan – Mb Stables

Race Performance

A top‑class miler cutting back to 7f.

“18Jul26‑5DMR … G2 … 1st by 2 … 102 figure.” “6Jun26‑7SAR … Met Mile G1 … 102 figure.” He’s the class of the field, but not a pure sprinter.

Works

Strong but not blistering:

“22Aug26 PRX 5f :57.3 (1/16)” “3Aug26 DMR 5f :57.4 (1/31)” These are excellent, but his profile leans longer.

Verdict: A classy sort and already a graded stakes winner over a longer trip it will be interesting to see how he handles this seven furlongs. If HRP history is anything to go by the trip wont make much difference and this is probably the number one choice of the champion trainer.

9. My Tomorrows – Maxmillion Farm

Race Performance

A winning machine:

“28Jun26‑7CD … G3 … 1st by a head … 103 figure.” He’s a strong closer, but all recent runs are at 1 mile.

Works

Longer stamina‑type drills:

“26Jul26 SAR 7f 1:23 (1/4)” “15Aug26 SAR 1m(T) 1:34.4 (1/7)” Not sprint‑focused.

Verdict: A 13 race winner and a graded stakes winner he has recently been running over a mile but a bulk of his wins have been over sprint trips. Another big hope for the sprint king I guess the only real issue is his gate as he will be hard pushed to stay close enough to the lead without burning himself out to get over. If the race engine is kind and allows him to slot in a few lengths back then he will be a winning chance, if it send him right to the back to hunt for the rail a place is his best hope.

10. Star Vault – Mb Stables

Race Performance

Excellent sprint/mile versatility.

“25Jul26‑6SAR … G2 … 3rd by 1¼ … 100 figure.” Consistent 99–102 figures.

Works

Very sharp:

“16Aug26 PRX 6f 1:10.1 (1/50)” “22Aug26 PRX 6f 1:10.2 (5/53)”

He’s clearly primed.

Verdict: Another that will find the draw challenging as he is not a front runner or a deep closer. Instead he will have to work hard from the bell to find a spot and that part will only be decided by the race engine through the first half of the race. Certainly has the ability to win if things go his way

Race Summary

This is a tough race to call as these sprints tend to oscillate in form from one race to the next. I will go for I Want It All to get home late with Obi Wan with one of the on pacers like Valyrian Needle holding on for third.
