Gallant Bob Stakes Looks Like it’s John Deere’s to Lose

Gallant Bob Stakes – Grade II
PRX Race #3 6f Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $300.000 For Three Year Olds And Upward.

1 Grond Mb Stables Franco G

There are three major factors that give this one a big chance here. Firstly the trainer, secondly the draw and thirdly the three year old weight allowance. He is working close enough to the best of the olders to make use of the weights and showed in the MD Sprint and the Amsterdam that he is up to this level.

2 King Mach Night Rider Stables Hernandez R M

We have seen many horses come out of claimers and win stakes races this year so even though on all form so far he wouldn’t be up to this level you have to respect his very good chance here. Working very smartly and in the coveted two box i expect him to run very well.

3 John Deere Mb Stables Davis D

Well the Mb Stables three year olds look to be the ones to beat here and this one in clearly the favorite to win. Advertising just what sort of advantage a three year old has he went from a claimer in May to winning the grade one Crosby just two races later by a fairly easy length. Another nice draw and it is hard to see how he is beaten with a 57 and 3 and a 1.10 and 1 work to his name coupled with a weight allowance.

4 Out On A Limb Estero Farms Lezcano J

A real great older horse but has been battling weight allowances for three years now and his record reflects that. Second in the BC Dirt Mile at three, he ran in the Classic at four but has since gone back to sprinting where he is probably best. Honest all year he ran well in the Forego last time when beaten under a length in fifth and has had a good season winning the Cartier Stakes back in July. His works are great but only the same as the three’s so he will find it tough to get better than third here.

5 Global Strike Fractious Bridgmohan S X

The very good winner of the Vanderbilt Handicap the time before last i can forgive hi his run in the Forego last time as he hated the wet ground. Where does that put him, well he may be fighting for place money with the other older horses.

6 Con Artist Smokey Stover Velazquez J R

The last time he faced three year old was back in March when he won the San Carlos Stakes and since then he has been bought for 1.5K and won two more stakes races in the True North and the Nerud. Beaten a head in the Forego last time he would be the best of the older horses and probably is the best hope to beat them.

7 Snakie Authorization John Henry Chirinos R

He has really found hos legs this year taking the MD Sprint in May but he was never in the Forego last time and this looks like a real fingers crossed sort of race for him. Good enough on his day but not for me today.

8 Harleys Hope TwinTowersRacing Bravo J

A real consistent 35 race veteran he is as tough as they come but just may lack the X Factor against some very fast sprinters. He will be in the fight but i am not sure he will get the last punch.

9 The End Game RNP Stables Bisono J

Even a three year old will find it tough from a wide gate against these seasoned and up and coming sprinters. There is no doubt this is a nice one but he looks a little out of his depth here.

SUMMARY

It is very hard to look past John Deere in this race as his CV looks full of grade one winning gold stars at HRP. The champion trainer, the weight allowance, the fastest works, a former claimer, these all seem to be ticks in the HRP box and he has far more ticks than most. Con Artist and King Mach may be the best of the older’s.
