The Jaipur – Grade III
6 Furlongs Turf Stake Purse $300.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.
1st Dance General. Trained by Nakamura Stables
This is your classic HRP story of a rags to riches horse that has gone from beaten low level claimer to double graded stakes winner in 12 weeks. If ever there was proof that you should keep horses through their poor form and strike when the iron gets hot then this is it. To be fair this wasn’t a shock win, this horse hates soft ground and seems to love a bit of turf sprinting so if you take out all the races over a longer trip and on soft ground he actually has some good form and strong credentials as proved by his super fast pre race work. Trailing a little early on he picked up the leaders and won pretty easily in the end in the sort of time that has BC Turf Sprint written all over it. I feel now Nakamura Stables has found the angle for this horse it will take a good horse or track conditions to beat him from now on.
2nd Ambient, trained by Mb Stables
Of course we couldn’t have a ‘HRP’ style winner without a ‘HRP’ type finish and all the other horses finished within a whisker of each other. Ambient ran a brave race, setting a fast pace before being collared by the winner but she was game enough to hang on for second and that was a good performance. Back against her own sex I would expect her to get back to winning ways pretty quick.
3rd Sweep The Event, trained by D J C Racing Stables
Well considering all this horses form is on dirt he ran pretty well to be third. One paced on this surface he finished in the mess behind the winner and plugged on pretty well. I would expect him to be back on dirt next time.
4th Swamp Fox, trained by Blushing Meadows
Ran the stalk but faded off the strong pace to finish a close fourth, this wasn’t a terrible run but it was pretty average and pretty much represents where he sits in this grade.
5th Until The Moon, trained by Sanny Village
Stayed on well enough but never got into the race today, looking at his last few efforts I am wondering whether he needs a bit further these days
6th Awesome Exchange, Downwind Stables
Ran last as the odds suggested but as he finished only heads and necks from second and was only beaten two lengths I would imagine his trainer might be tempted to try him again at this level.
