The Glen Falls is So Open That it May Pay to Think Like a Computer

The Glens Falls Handicap – Grade III
SAR   Race #8   1 3/8m   InTurf   Graded Stake
Purse $200.000  For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.

1 Ms Gummybear, trained by AER Stables
Forget her last run she just hates soft ground and looking back to her easy win in The Bewitch she has a decent chance over this marathon trip. The winner of this race last year she only has one pound more and there is no reason she cant make it back to back.

2 Last Voyager, trained by Canny Lodge
Won the grade two Fox in the early part of the year but then struggled with the rest of the four year olds for the remainder of the year. She stayed on nicely in the Beverly D last time and with her generation getting a little boost recently she may be ready for a return to winning form.

3 Maistro Power, trained by Nakamura Stables
A winner of four from her last six she is in the best form of her life and has been one of the few four year olds to beat the younger generation this year so far. She gets a handy weight and going on her fine second in the Modesty Handicap she must have a chance of some of this purse.

4 Technomin, trained by The Sidley Stud
The three year olds have been handing it u to the older generation this year but this handicap sees her with less of a weight pull than she would have in an allowance so she would have to be better on her own merits today. She has been knocking on the door in some top races this year so she certainly has a chance, and I like the fact that she runs in her first turf race today as plenty of horses have won in these circumstances before.

5 Memorandum, trained by Mb Stables
The winner of the Shuvee Handicap last time she comes here on a four timer and must have a solid chance. Likely to be catapulted out of the wide gate these long distance races often get won from on the pace so i dont see that at a disadvantage. Working well she has every chance in an open field.

SUMMARY
This is a very tight handicap and so it can pay to think outside the box, or atleast inside the HRP box. A three year old, first race on turf and getting weight from everything is enough for me to go for Technomin for this despite two of those things would be a drawback in real life.
