The Great Lady M Is Baptised By Fire

Great Lady M Stakes – Grade II
6 1/2 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st   Baptisted By Fire   Mo Mentum Farm   Maldonado E

As i had hoped the trainer managed a perfect book end with their two runners ensuring that they got the positions needed in a 4 horse field these days. This one sat last of four early on but within two lengths of her stable companion who ran them along at a good average pace ensuring that this six year old would be able to come out and over the top as the stalker and the leader weakened. It is a pattern we see an awful lot of in small fields like this and the trainer managed to get things spot on. This six year old made it two graded stakes in a row and has done so by beating just seven rivals, another master stroke but her options start to get limited now.

2nd   Deeback   Mb Stables   Cedillo A

You would normally say that this one took up a perfect position running the stalk as the leader set a decent but not crazy pace. But these four horse fields often see the stalker and the leader give way to those just behind them and that pattern emerged again today. She ran well enough but never looked like beating the winner.

3rd   Canary For One   Mo Mentum Farm   Baze T C

The trainer set this up perfectly demonstrating the importance of clicking those instruction buttons in the correct order. Though she has not made the early lead in her previous 13 starts under the owner today she did her job perfectly nd set things up nicely for her stable companion. She really is a very consistent filly and i think she will benefit next year when she turns five as she faces four year olds who are a step behind in their development curve.

4th   Molly Cat   Maxmillion Farm   Pyfer J

This filly is proving a tough read for the trainer bit i feel they are slowly getting a handle on her. It looks like she is a touch better on the turf and maybe as a closer both of which do not help her as a four year old looking for her second win of the season. Today she was very flat and whilst disappointing the trainer can cross out another instruction and another trip or surface.
