Great Lady M Stakes – Grade II
6 1/2 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.
1st Military Made Spb Racing Frey K
This race was always going to a closer, it was just a matter of which one and in the end, it was this one coming back from a route trip that got half her nostril in front at the right time. The six-year-old mare has been pretty consistent and deserved a win like this in a race that was set up perfectly for her.
2nd Bla Bla Bla TwinTowersRacing Hernandez J J
Closed off just as we expected but missed by a gnat’s whisker in a driving finish. Two six-year-olds first and second showing once again how maturity was tweaked a few years back giving these good older horses a better chance later in life, but I think this race was set up perfectly for closers and that is probably the reason these two nearly dead heated.
3rd Suspicion Avenue Z Kimura K
There was always going to be a speed battle in this race, and it looked as if this filly had taken the right path in stalking the lead but just when it looked like she may win the closers caught her and she went down in a photo finish. This was a good effort by the improving four-year-old and I would expect a decent race to come her way as the fours mature.
4th Decimas Queen Maxmillion Farm Maldonado E
A stakes winner on the turf, a grade one winner in a route, this filly really displays the failings of HRP when it comes to realism as she was right in this at the end and only went down by a quarter length. This was a much better effort after a couple of ordinary runs, and she looks like she will come back to her best as the four-year-olds start getting their mid-season boost.
