The Hurricane Brings a Kreepy Chill to GP

The Hurricane Bertie – Grade III
6 1/2 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $100.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st        Kreepy Chill      EasyMoney Stables        Albarado R J

The great thing about HRP is you can take a horse to TUP for a couple of low grade wins and then ship them across the country and take a grade three stakes at a top track. Now a winner of her last three she had been consistent at a lower level, mostly the lowest pay level but had never hinted at this sort of win until this year. Even then her form was nowehere near some of these but what she does like is a fast pace and this trip and everything dropped into place for her today. Can she go on to a higher level or will she be back at the fair tracks, i guess we will have to wait for her next run to find that out. The pleasing thing for her trainer is that they bred this filly and now can say they have a stakes winning home bred.

2nd    Torrents Of Spring      Wood Duck Stables     Stein J

If i was handicapping this race i wouldn’t have been able to come up with a scenario where this one was beaten by Kreepy Chill but beaten she was and in the end by a fairly comprehensive length margin. There were really no obvious excuses although she did get a bit trapped for a stride or two which may have stalled her run but she got out in good time and never matched the winner.

3rd      Dancinginflorida      Night Rider Stables         Ortiz I Jr

Went off in front at a good clip but those tactics only seem to work in longer races and over sprint trips the leaders are often caught. She battled on well to be nosed out of second but third wasn’t a bad effort. A look at her form lines show us how HRP horses can be moved from closer’s to leaders at will but as yet she hasn’t really got that stalk position in transit which i feel would suit her best.

4th      Lady Sammyantha      The Sidley Stud      Lopez P

Stalked the lead but the pace was good and she didn’t have much puff left for the finish. She was only inches off second though and ran another solid race.
