Form

A tricky horse to assess: only 1 win from 21 starts, but he frequently hits the board. His 2026 season (6: 0‑1‑3) shows he’s competitive without being threatening. Much of his best form has come on turf, and his dirt route efforts are honest but not explosive.

His recent G1 turf run at Saratoga was respectable, but he faded late — a recurring pattern.

He hasn’t won this season, but he’s trending upward.

Summary

A tough and consistent seven year old and whilst he hasn’t been a prolific winner he has always been a contender and that from this draw should put him in the race on the turn. He has come back well from a year off and could be a lively outsider.

3 – Bank Robber (Our Athletes) – Rosario J

Trainer Profile

Our Athletes (365 starts, 53 wins) excels with developing 3‑year‑olds. Their horses often peak in late summer and handle graded company well.

Form

4 – Among Wolves (Fabone1) – Reyes A A

Trainer Profile

Fabone1 (87 starts, 11 wins) is a smaller barn but very capable with improving older geldings. Their runners often show big jumps after mid‑season conditioning.

Form

A very consistent 4‑year‑old with multiple 96–100 figures. His last two graded efforts at Woodbine were excellent — a 98 in the Seagram Cup and a 100 in the Eclipse. He finishes strongly and stays 1⅛ miles well.

These are top‑class works, especially the Churchill drill. He’s clearly thriving.

Summary

A major contender. Improving, fit, and dangerous. I do like these lightly raced older horses, it takes me back to the autogen days and I often wonder whether the instant success of those four year old autogens is similar to the lightly raced older horses we have nowadays. Anyway this one is proven in this grade with two strong third in graded races in his last two, the only worry I have is this deep closing style he seems to have developed….the race engine isn’t keen on deep closers.

5 – Individuation (Mb Stables) – Ferrer J C

Trainer Profile

Mb Stables (1981 starts, 521 wins) is the dominant barn in the game. Their older geldings are famously tough, consistent, and deadly at 1⅛ miles.

Form

A legendary 7‑year‑old with 14 wins and $8.7 million earned. His 2026 form (8: 2‑3‑1) includes a G2 win at Woodbine and a strong second in the CT Classic. He consistently runs 97–101 figures and remains one of the best long‑route geldings in training.

These are monster works, exactly what Mb Stables produces before a big graded route.

Summary

The class of the older horses. Mb Stables has a knack of keeping these great older horses going longer than most. Most times once they start to decline they fall off the ledge but Mb seems to be able to halt the decline better than others and this is a great example. Still working like the champ he is he continues to put in great performances despite looking on occasions like he has had enough. Probable favorite, likely winner of everything we can see as long as what we can’t see mirrors that.

6 – Pure Winner (Serenity Stables) – Corrales G

Trainer Profile

Serenity Stables (445 starts, 52 wins) is a steady barn that excels with durable older geldings. Their horses often improve after being claimed.

Form

A 5‑year‑old in career‑best form. His 2026 season (7: 3‑2‑1) includes a sharp win at Ellis Park and a strong Suburban effort. He stays 1⅛ miles well and has run 97–98 figures repeatedly.

Summary

A legitimate contender with strong recent form and excellent conditioning. The wide gate will make it interesting here, will the trainer hit the gaming buttons or will the race engine wide gate speed push throw him into the lead. Given some favors and a good start he could well be one of the main dangers to those inside him.

Race Summary:

It would be easy just to say Individuation, goodness knows he has done enough to deserve my pick. However, with likely skinny odds I think it may pay to look outside of him to Pure Winner and Back Robber.
