Marine Stakes Looks Close but Keep Silent May Sneak It

Marine Stakes – Grade III
WO   Race #7   1 1/16m   Dirt   Graded Stake
Purse $150.000  For Three Year Olds.

1 Raj Fifa Star, trained by Night Rider Stables
Had been on the KYD trail since a close up finish in the Front Runner as a two year old but
didnt manage to shine and comes here for the consolation prize. Despite missing the board in
both The Lewis and The Spiral he ran well closing in both to be beaten but not disgraced. I
liked his run in The Spiral where he close for fifth and with some decent work times he has
a good chance from the one alley.

3 Keen Ice, trained by Mm Racing
The untapped talent in the race he has won his last two and has some very good home works to
his name. He only just lasted home last time in a competitive PRX allowance so this trip may
find him out but front runners have been doing better recently and an uncontested lead could
see him running a big race.

4 Roger The Australian, trained by Threshold
Has one of the fastest mile works in the field but has struggled in this grade since winning two
in a row. He ran well in the Bat Memorial to be a closing fourth and then showed up for the FL
Derby where he was outclassed. He could be the surprise package in the race coming from an
unfashionable stable and he will be suited by the small field and the trip.

5 Brain Power, trained by Mb Stables
One of the many three year olds from the massive Mb Stable he ran a super race in the SUN Derby
to be second but failed in the SA Derby to get into the KYD picture. This may be his best trip and
just the trainers name next to his gives him a winning chance.

6 Techfluence, trained by The Sidley Stud
Won a grade three as a two year old and has run well in top company since. He stayed on nicely
to be a close up seventh in the Transylvania Stakes and was working well up to that race. In a
close contest he has every chance.

7 Keep Silent, trained by Nakamura Stables
With four wins from six starts and a good speed figure last time out he looks the form horse for
this race. The outside gate is a disadvantage but in a small field and with little speed he may get
a soft lead or stalk and be the one to beat. His win in The Rushaway Stakes last time was pretty
stylish and consistently quick works add to his chances of winning his fourth in a row.

SUMMARY
Keep Silent may be the answer in a tricky field especially as there is little speed in the race.
I would imagine that he will get up to the pace early and be the strongest at the end. Its a toss
up for the places with every runner having a claim but i think Roger The Australian, Brain power and
Raja Fifa Star may battle it out for those.
