The Matchmaker (GIII) is always a great summertime, Jersey Shore kind of a race and we have eight talented ladies headed to the gate for the 2020 rendition of this classic.  I actually have an entry in this one, so I’ll skip the “handicapping” side of things and just let you know that this is a loaded field and I wouldn’t be surprised if ANY of these takes the win.  We have older race mares with a ton of money, a 3yo that looks like a serious up-and-comer… it really is a wide open race and it should be a great race to watch.  Heck, even a horrible trainer like me has a shot here… let’s see how the chips fall.

Here’s The Field –

1
   Charity Jane    RNP Stables    Court J K   119   4/1

What a snag, as they took this one for $10.000 and she has been tough as nails.  Nice win vs. Alw horses three starts back and just missed in the Soaring Softly (GIII) and Wild Applause in her two most recent.  Can she get over the hump at take the win here today?

2
Credit The Cat    Nakamura Stables    Juarez N   124   7/2

Tough race mare shows fourteen wins from twenty-three starts and almost $800.000 in winnings, so you know she has class and ability.  Two graded wins this year, but did throw a bad one in the Gamely (GI) where she was last of twelve.  Still she is all race horse and you have to give her a chance every time she loads into the gate.

3
La Marine Ancienne    Mo Mentum Farm    Bravo J   124   4/1

Had been sprinting for the prior connections but after selling for $30.000, they started stretching her out and she won the Perfect String going a mile in her most recent.  They add another eighth today, but it looks to be what she’s looking for.  I’d give her a big look, and perhaps at a price.

4
Truth In Fact    Simmer Down Stable    Ferrer J C   124   6/1

Has been on a steady string of OptAlw outings and has been right in the thick of things in most of her starts.  She steps up to stakes company today, but with eleven wins from twenty-nine starts, why not give her the shot.

5
   Folsom Tradition    John Henry    Centeno D E   124   5/1

Sold at the June Auction for $225.000 and they go right after it here today.  She was up the track in a trio of tough races including the BEL Oaks (GI) and Beverly D (GI) but comes in with back-to-back wins at 5f and a flat mile, so you know she has ability and versitility.

6
Built For Speed    First Flight Stable    Lopez P   124   7/2

So this one is mine and I don’t like mixing work and play… but she has won two of her last three starts, both of those at extended distances, so she will have to show a bit more early lick to get involved with this group.

7
Why You Do That    Mb Stables    Tunon M   119   7/1

Lightly race 3yo that goes after a big payday, but the trainer certainly knows when he has something that has talent.  She’s won two of four starts and looked good winning vs N1X Alw horses last out at WO.  She loves the turf as well.

8
Coastal Flower    Nolespan Racing    Davis D   124   5/1

Was claimed two back for a mere $12.500 and has been third and fourth in graded races since the hostile takeover, both at BEL.  She had the lead in both of those races, but can she carry that to the wire and get a win?
