The Mother Goose Goes with Light Field

The Mother Goose – Grade II
EL Race #3 1 1/16m Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $250.000 For Fillies Three Years Old.

1 Interpoint Night Rider Stables Castellano J J

Fourth in the BC Juvenile Fillies last year she started off the year well with a win in the Marshas Wish and then a closing second in the Santa Ysabel Stakes since then however things haven’t gone so well. Drawn wide in her last two she struggled compared to good draws and good runs in her previous three. Now some may say that the draw is so influential that she will once again be back to her best and may win based only on the fact she comes back in to an inside draw today. The information based on the computer game says she could win, the information based on her form if taken from a real life perspective is she wont. Personally i think she is good enough to run well but can’t see how she can turn the Black Susan form around with One Step West.

2 One Step West Maxmillion Farm Lezcano J

Bought for ten dollars which was a popular price back in the day she quickly paid back her cheap price with a good third in the Giants Causeway. In her last start she was made favorite in the Black Eyed Susan which surprised a couple but she showed that confidence was not misplaced with a strong one length win. She clearly has ability and with the perfect draw will take all the beating.

3 Beldame D J C Racing Stables Pennington F

Took her chance in the FG Oaks after a nice third in a little stakes race and after leading for a long way was only beaten a length in the end. A confidence boosting win at allowance level last time will set her up nicely for this and on her last work time she should give a good account.

4 Sunlite Rampage Stable Ortiz I Jr

This is a pretty light field for a grade two so this filly could well be considered the most accomplished runner based on her big run in the KY Oaks. Sitting back early she made up plenty to end up just a length off the winner in seventh. How much that form is worth at HRP is nothing like it would be in real life but nonetheless it was a good effort. Prior to that he won the Honeybee over this trip in a last gasp nose victory and with a similar draw today i can see her getting a nice spot and coming on strong late.

5 Dream Woman Mb Stables Stein J

She has always been pretty consistent but looked more than a decent over nighter for the first time when strolling home in the Allaire Distaff Stakes. That wasn’t an overly strong race but nor is this so there is no reason she can’t take this one as well.

6 Brave Assumption Nakamura Stables Fuentes Ru

Wide is wide no matter how many runners the race engine treats them all the same so it will be a challenge for her to get a spot without going too fast or too slow early on. She has the Nak factor to help and it very neary paid off in the Selene when she nearly made all only to fail by a nose at the wire. On that last effort she is entitled to go well.

SUMMARY

A pretty weak grade two and one that is hard to get a read on. I think Interpoint will be better on the inside draw but of all of these the one that really stands out from a good draw is One Step West. Sunlite and Dream Woman will be the big dangers.
