1st      Cherokee Monster             TwinTowersRacing               4-1 (HRP) 8-1 (SRF)

Cherokee Monster did return to the brilliant form that saw him second in the Grade I AR Derby as I was taking about in the preview, and boy, did he look sharp doing it, laying back in eighth for the early portion of the race, taking off with a fury that saw him fourth coming into the stretch with an easy length to make, and he did that with a length to spare.                                                       

2nd      Knowing Spirit                      Ajm Stables                     6-1 (HRP) 4-1 (SRF)

The three races that Knowing Spirit has run for his new owner make that look like a very well-spent $185.00, He was another closer in a race that set up perfectly for closers. He laid seventh just in front of the eventual winner. As they approached the stretch, they switched positions and Knowing Spirit was able to pass every horse save the winner.

3rd      Decima Tech                The Sidley Stud                     6-1 (HRP) *3-1 (SRF)

Well, I said Decima Tech was probably the best three-year-old in training right now, and a narrow loss like this is not going to move me off that opinion. He ran a smart, competitive stalk laying sixth to the stretch where he engaged in a stretch long battle and lost in the photo.

4th      Petit A Petit                Jerry Garcia Racing                6-1 (HRP) 3-1 (SRF)

Petit A Petit’s continues his impressive development while racing at the highest levels. He poked his nose out front and kept his head out front the rest of the way, cruising down the stretch, minding his own business winning the race when all these closers come storming along messing up the finish.
