SAR Oaks Goes to the Wire as Everything Finishes Within a Length of the Winner

SAR Oaks
1 3/16 Mile Turf Stake Purse $750.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.

I billed this as an interesting tactical race, what it turned out to be is the usual HRP finish with every runner within just one length and to be honest its almost impossible to write about as a horse race.
Well if nothing more it was exciting so lets look at how the top four managed to get their noses into the money.

1st Conviction Team 7 Illusions Beschizza A

This filly has come a long way since winning a maiden claimer back in April by a nose. A shock win in the Regret in her first start for the new trainer seemed to be as simple as removing the shadow roll but she showed that was no fluke next up by running a nice fourth in the Dance Smartly. Today she was just behind the speed for much of the race and in a race where it was all heads and noses she managed to get hers in front at the right time.

2nd Cest And Me D J C Racing Stables Lezcano J

She went against her running style when a good sixth in the BEL Oaks last time but was back where she likes to be today on the speed and very nearly won after leading at the furlong pole.

3rd The Universe Aer Stables Maldonado E

Came from behind and was eating up the ground late but couldnt get to the first two going down by just a neck in a blanket finish.

4th Hopewell Tradition Team 7 Illusions Bejarano R

The inconsistency of HRP form was never clearer than in this race as this horse who was up for four in a row and who had won the BEL Oaks last time decided to make the running and ended up fourth beaten a quarter length. Would she have won if she had taken a position just behind the speed, probably, but she didnt and she ended up fourth.
