The Schuylerville Looks Tight as the Favorite Draws Wide

The Schuylerville – Grade III
SAR Race #9 6f Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $150.000 For Fillies Two Years Old.

Well the big breeding stables come out here for more early juvenile success. There are one or two exceptions but what we have here is another cavalry charge of promising two year olds and one of them will emerge as a BC prospect. These races really are a lottery and i doubt than any of the trainers are confident here, hopeful yes, but confidence can only come as work times and ability are matched with that class gene and a bit of heart. In the past this race has thrown up some nice early types, levi Broom won two grade ones before falling apart before the BC, Rum Dummy, last years winner was last seen in a cheap optional claimer at LAD and Love Struck baby hasn’t won a race since winning this and the Spinaway as a two year old. So we aren’t looking for a KYO winner here, we are looking for an early type who can run now, Here is how they line up:

1       Distant Memory         D J C Racing Stables           Lezcano J

This one certainly fits the mold for this race, Standing at 16.1hh with three good runs under her belt she is working very nicely and has a great gate to stalk from. Her win last time in a CD maiden was dominant from a tricky barrier so the only question that remains with her is does she have the class gene. Well she is beautifully bred by Distant Sunset and out of a mare with plenty of value in her blood.

2        The Nation           Arindel             Ortiz I Jr

Another with three runs to her name and at 15.3hh certainly fits the mold of an early type. She won her debut by three lengths back when it all began in April and has since tackled stakes company twice, the last of which she ran a very nice closing fourth in the Debutante. The key with this one is that she has had terrible draws in all of her races and today gets the most sought after two gate. Her works are in the ball park, her trainer is one of the emerging stars and i would be expecting her to be right in at the end.

3       Moment To Dream        La Canada Racehorses      Rosario J

There aren’t many seasons that have gone past that this trainer hasn’t had a very good bunch of two’s and this is just the type that they seem to churn out. A good debut win was followed by a game maiden win at CD and whilst looking at the times of those races she may need to find a little her 1.37 and 4 mile work recently suggests she has improved. A great draw, lost of ticks in boxes she is certainly worth consideration.

4      She Kin Sing         Axeman        Carmouche K

I always like an unbeaten horse and this one has won both her races and deserves this tilt at the big time. She hasn’t been at the top level winning at CT and then a small stakes race at TUP but she has been professional in both and is working in the same times as the fillies that have won at higher level. The draw should suit well enough and she may just be one of the dark horses.

5     One Burner        Night Rider Stables       Cancel E

A very easy winner on debut at CD she showed too much early pace next up in the Astoria and may need to show better racing manners if she is going to be in teh finish here. She certainly ticks the boxes as an early type and the stable is in good form so whilst the works aren’t as encouraging as some she may just run a decent races.

6        Simple Moon       Jive Inc.        Santana R Jr

A length behind One Burner in the Astoria she also won on debut so falls into the right catagorey and has worked nicely since her stakes failure. She may have been unsuited by the off track in her last start so i expect a much better show today.

7       Whatamiss       Fractious       Cohen D

Only a tiddler at 15.1 but she showed plenty of heart to win her maiden last time and has worked the 1.11 and 2 that most of the field has. Both of her starts have been on off tracks so it may go either way if the ground is fast, she may be the sleeper.

8       Incendiary           Mb Stables          Gaffalione T

The winner of two including the FT Debutante last time she certainly has plenty of speed and i liked the way she dug deep last time to win by a nose. At 15.3hh and with three starts where she has been competitive from the off she looks exactly the early sort you need for this race. The draw is sticky but Mb’s horses seem to find a spot when they need to so it may not be a problem. A winning chance for sure.

9        In Amongst The Wreck        Jive Inc.        Castellano J J

Very impressive in a CD maiden last time she is working like a star and certainly maybe another from the stable that will develop into a decent two year old. This is her first big step after maidens but she looks the right type if she can overcome this rather awkward draw.

10       Commanding Letters        Serenity Stables         Franco M

One run one win, you can’t get better than that and this filly showed plenty of heart to win her GG maiden suggesting she isn’t out of place in this field. Her works have gone the right way after that debut but it is hard to line that form up in this race, only time will tell how good she is.

11         Keno Queen        Mb Stables         Velazquez J R

Looks to be the form filly of the race but the draw will make it tough for her in an even field. She was mighty impressive in the Astoria last time sauntering home by three lengths from a wide draw so this gate may not be a huge problem. The one question mark is that the Astoria was on an off track which can throw up odd results and winning margins but the fact that she has worked 1.11 flat on a dry track certainly suggests the dry track ability is there.

12         Salt Who          Aer Stables          Davis D

Bought from Team 7 Illusions for $200 she then went on to a maiden success for her new stable but has been dealt a cruel blow by the draw monster here. She found a stalk from her wide draw last time so it is not out of the question she can handle it and we all know just how successful this trainer is with these types these days.

SUMMARY

It is great to see so many home bred’s in this race, in fact the only two that aren’t are owned by the two stables that seem to dominate recent Three year old TC races. They are both nice types especially Keno Queen but they both have been handicapped by the wide draw so that certainly evens things out a bit. Trying to pick the winner of this race is pretty hard and i wouldn’t be staking my house on the result. Keno Queen looks the stand out if she can find a trip, chasing her home will be a wall of horses but i like Distant Memory to find some place money and maybe Moment To Dream.
