The Sidley Stud Just Too “Speedy” in Bayakoa Handicap Win

There were quite a few questions coming into Sunday’s Bayakoa Hcp (GIII) here at LA… the one answer we got is Speedy Ginger still has gas in the tank.  Her last pair were a bit off form, but the bay mare showed speed throughout this mile and a sixteen stakes, took over into the lane and pulled away to take the win by two lengths.  Forever Phooey Party was the back marker through much of this one, but closed to take the second spot, getting a head in front of Mag Ol in third and Viral Breakdown was fourth in the field of four.  The final running time was 1:41.63 over a track listed as Fast.

Speedy Ginger is a 5yo bay mare by Ginger Haggis – Speedy Game, by Sir Speedy and she was bred in NY by her owner, The Sidley Stud.  This was her second win of the season and brings her lifetime win total to eleven from thirty-two starts, and now has $487.360 in earnings.  Congrats to the connections

Speedy Ginger tracked the pace, moved up on the turn to take the lead turning for home, pulled away.  Forever Phooey Party was taken back after the break, continued to trail into the far turn, closed well, second best.  Mag Ol raced evenly, no threat, just missed place.  Viral Breakdown sharp from the gate, set a pressured pace to the far turn, headed, folded.
