The Star Shines in The NY

The NY – Grade II
1 1/4 Mile Inner Turf Stake Purse $600.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st Fomalhaut John Henry Velazquez J R

If you had looked at this five year olds form she certainly wasnt the first choice pre race but an improved effort last time when runner up in the Beaugay and works that were just as good as anything else and she was certainly in the hopper for the HRP lottery. Getting a great trip she thrived over this 10 furlongs and looks like the type that will go on now and run up some wins in this sort of grade. If you are wondering what her name means then it is the brightest star in the constellation Piscis Austrinus and one of the brightest stars in the night sky

2nd Maggie Greene The Sidley Stud Husbands P

Drawn wide she was taken to the tail of the field and as usually happens with that version of the wide gate story she flew home too late to be second. When you look at her last four races it does make you scratch your head with running styles as it really doesnt seem to make much sense. I guess a better draw and we will see her back in the winners circle before long.

3rd Nancy Broom Moytoy Team 7 Illusions Bejarano R

She had every chance but didnt quicken up as well as the first two and had to settle for third. She still looks a touch off her three year old form but that can happen sometimes as fillies turn four and i am sure they will be more to come from her.

4th Snacks D J C Racing Stables Gallardo A A

Followed the go back version of the wide gate story and like the runner up flew home late to be fourth beaten just a length.
