These state bred stakes races used to be a soft option many years ago but now each of these juvenile races is hugely competitive and here we have 5 unbeaten records going on the line. Here is how they line up:
1 Believe In Miracles TwinTowersRacing Davis D
Working in the 1.12’s pre race normally points to a good two year old and this one looked very nice when beating previous runners on debut at LS in a competitive time. Since then she has gone comfortably under the 1.12 so further improvement can be expected and she gets a nice draw in a big field as long as she doesn’t get too buried early on.
2 Commendable First Flight Stable Ortiz I Jr
The winner of a big ticket AQU maiden on debut she went on to a solid fourth in another big ticket race at WO, this time an allowance. She started off back in April so pre-race times are difficult to read at this stage but i am not seeing the type of improvement i would like to in a horse that has two runs under her belt. The great draw will help for sure and we know that she acts on an off track so there are a few positives in her favor.
3 Creeyatta Crocker Ggs Cancel E
Another April debut winner, she won a PRX maiden but then disappointed somewhat in the Astoria in her next and last start. The off track may have been against her that day as she has since worked 1.11 and 1 which is right up there with the best at the moment. She gets a good draw to bounce back from but she still has something to prove after that last race failure.
4 Luna Tick Asgar Santana R Jr
Won second up at PRX and was only beaten a nose in the FT Debutante at SA last time so is one of the form choices in the race. Couple that information with the fact that she worked a 1.11 flat recently and you have a filly that is a very attractive proposition for this race. The trainer is in great form as always and she must start the favorite in many peoples short list.
5 Majestys Girl Riggins Racing Rosario J
Claimed in her last start after a turf victory she is given her chance here by a trainer that knows how to win races. I am not sure the surface will bother her but it is difficult to judge her against these and she may be just one of those wait and see types. She will be flying home though and a strong early pace may bring her stamina into play.
6 Approved Sight Mb Stables Lezcano J
A winner on debut, bought at auction by the best trainer in the game and working 1.11 and 1, that would normally be enough for an automatic selection in a race like this. She certainly cuts a pretty picture and is in the same gate she easily won her debut from so this filly could easily add to the trophy cabinet.
7 Grandest Lady La Canada Racehorses Alvarado J
Yet another debut winner she too is working in the 1.11 and 1 bracket and has also cut a fairly nice mile work too. She will have to fight to get a decent position from this mid-pack draw but there looks enough ability there to put her in the hopper with most of the others.
8 Ri Ra Tech The Sidley Stud Castellano J J
She has a couple of lengths to find on Luna Tick on the FT Debutante running but she looks to have improved more than most after that run going 1.11 flat in her last work. The draw certainly wont help her overcome that two lengths so on that alone she may not be a first choice but you cannot ignore that improvement in her work and the trainer is no stranger to winning.
9 Co Hogulate Night Rider Stables Cohen D
A debut winner like a good few here she looks to have gone the right way since but may find this race comes a bit soon for her. The draw wont help her either and she sports a jockey who isn’t too keen on two year old fillies. A top four finish would be a huge result for her.
10 Tallahassee Lassie D J C Racing Stables Carmouche K
A good winner after a solid debut i think she is better than the 1.12 work she laid down recently but whether she is good enough to win this from a wide draw is highly debatable. It is difficult to see her winning but not impossible as 8 of these runners will be consigned to future claimers so she just has to find herself in the remaining four.
11 Eggz Gdp Inc Franco M
A game winner second up of a big ticket state bred maiden she was working in the ballpark and has already shown her willingness to win. The sticking point of course is the draw so it comes a little bit down to luck as to where she lands in transit, if things go her way she can make her presence felt.
12 Chocolate Rain Arindel Velazquez J R
Get the car park and that could well be a hurdle too far. A game winner in the mud on debut she deserves a shot but will need lots of things to go her way to get the win.
SUMMARY
A strong race but it is hard to narrow this field down as they all have minimal form and are working in the ball park for a winner of a race like this. Luna Tick looks the one for me after her narrow defeat last time with Approved Sight, Grandest Lady and Ri Ra Tech looking the biggest dangers.
