The Beaugay – Grade III
1 1/16 Mile Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.
1st Miss Darna Maxmillion Farm Carmouche K
It should’ve been obvious, Maxmillion Farm is the turf wizard, this filly flew home to be second in the grade one Taylor in soft ground and she proved last time out that she can handle a wide draw and not get stuck on the front. In hindsight this win was on the cards but the way she won was pretty impressive. Taken back she produced a lightning turn of foot in the rain affected ground to fly past them all and win by a very easy 4 lengths. I know its early days but if she makes a BC field and the rains come then watch out.
2nd Devil Wears Prada Axeman Ortiz I Jr
This wonderful old girl tried hard but just couldn’t slog through the mud quick enough today. She is still 5 from 5 in money finishes this year and looks a long way from hanging up her horse shoes, she lives to fight another day.
3rd Peppermint Miss Allinthegate Arroyo A S
Whacked away at the one pace to be third, well beaten in the end but she did well on ground that didnt suit her. She will be back when the ground is dryer.
4th Take Faith Night Rider Stables Franco M
Strangely for a front runner she was taken back from her wide draw rather than taking advantage of the outside speed push and using it to her advantage. She kept on for a well beaten fourth but one can’t help thinking the tactics were a miss today.
