The Wide Draws Will Be Hoping the Race Engine Helps them in the Beaumont

Beaumont – Grade II

KEE          Race #5            7f                          Dirt                      Graded Stake

Purse $400.000  For Fillies Three Years Old.

1 Tariff Terror                   Pan Farms                         Bejarano R                      120

Just four races into a career she is certainly on the cusp of this sort of race having been in three stakes races in her four starts. A good state bred win and then a competitive placing in the Princess Elizabeth saw her go to the Forward Gal on seasonal debut and she proved largely up to the rise in grade with a strong fourth less than a length from the winner. That effort over this trip certainly puts her right in the picture here and her run of great draws continues giving her, once again, a winning chance.

2 Belong To Me              TwinTowersRacing                     Franco M                   120

Another with just the four starts she has looked more of a distance type in her last two winning her maiden over a mile and sixteenth. A closing type she will need a strong pace in this race to get over the top of them but has certainly shown enough ability that of the race engine works in her favor she can be considered to have a competitive chance.

3 Diana                        D J C Racing Stables                Lopez P                           120

Plenty of good stakes form in this one’s record and she will be hard fit for this after three starts so far this year. The winner of two, she has placed twice in stakes grade over this trip so has the credentials but as yet really established herself as a graded stakes type. Likely to sit in mid pack she will need to make her run at the right time to be a serious winning chance.

4 Noemi                            Maxmillion Farm                        Bridgmohan S X          120

An up-and-coming type she was game in winning the Gasparilla last time over this trip after a good run in State Breds as a two-year-old.  An on pace type this race may shape up for her nicely as there are a few that will be further back and she may just get a comfortable stalking trip as she did last time out.

5 Acapulco Gray           Maxmillion Farm                        Jimenez A                       120

A close fourth in the Golden Rd at two she hasn’t been rushed since but a good win in the Any Limit last time suggests she is ready for her second graded stakes attempt. Two from two this year over six furlongs she has proven sprinting speed as well as the stamina need to run so well in the Golden Rod so this trip and race may fit very nicely into her wheelhouse. Her works are very strong, and she is a definite winning chance.

6 Top Nurse                     Our Athletes                   Velazquez J R                        120

One of the strongest on form she gets handicapped by the wide draw but has proved she can run from wide when finishing second in the Untappable and winning the Myrtlewood from wide draws.  There is a lot about her record that says she is the best filly in the race; the question will be whether she is still the best from the wide gate.

SUMMARY

It is interesting that the best two fillies have the worst two draws, but it is tough to get past their chances in a small field. Both are capable of going on pace in a race without too much early pace so should get over pretty quickly so despite other good chances it is these two that are my tips. I would just favor Acapulco Gray over Top Nurse but there won’t be much in it and boxing the Exacta may be the way to go.
