The Woodhaven May Just Go All Droopy

The Woodhaven
 AQU Race #2 1 1/16m InTurf Stake
Purse $100.000 (plus up to $15.00 for NY-breds) For Three Year Olds.

1  Drum Stick      High Voltage       Juarez N

One felt that this one was always going to be better than he was but it took a claim for him to find a bit of consistency and he won his last race, a decent FG Allowance, pretty nicely. The running style his new owner has adopted certainly seems to suit him but it probably doesn’t suit the new engine so the one draw should certainly help him a little when coupled with a short field. Certainly a chance if he can stay close enough early on.

2   Brool       Two Hearts One Love     Gomez Os

Another that has changed hands and struggled a little to find any consistency over a short career he too found something last time out when winning a decent higher level claimer at SA. This is not a strong field and a few decent works and the best draw puts him right in this.

3      Droopy      Aer Stables         Worrie A S

The trainer who has been such a tour de force with their three year olds in the past few seasons certainly doesn’t have the group that he has had in the past this season but this one looks a fairly progressive sort. The winner of three from six, his works are strong and he has good enough form to pick up a win.

4     Cage Rage     Nakamura Stables      Carmouche K

The stable dropped a lot of horses down to lowly TUP to get a confidence boosting win and this was one of them. Good enough in decent allowances before that last out win he wont have to improve much to be a factor.

5      Stimmy Shimmy     Choppy Inc.         McCarthy T

Two pretty disastrous failures in his last two starts have prompted the trainer for a hail mary approach with his first ever turf start. We all know at HRP that can often produce a good result when that happens so he may represent some good value if you fancy a gamble.

6    Ground Game     La Canada Racehorses      Castellano J J

Rounds out a field that is barely as good as a mid level allowance and even with the wide draw and some of the slower works he would have to be a chance. A good winner of his last two he may be the sort of improver that is needed to win this.

SUMMARY

Well, not a lot of stakes form to go on here and to be honest hard to settle on one that stands out in this field. Droopy may be good enough but f anyone decides to go out hard then Ground Game or Drum Stick may get over the top late, that is of course unless the race engine sends the wide gate to the front.
