6 SAR The Manhattan (GI)
$1,000.000 4yo&Up 13/16m Turf 123lbs
The fact that they can’t get the weather/track condition right is just absurd to me… but, we had a Good turf course for The Manhattan (GI) a mile and a half turf test for the older gents and it was a very competitive race… yet, the theme of the BEL weekend continued on as Mb Stables takes yet another huge race with a massive purse… Theegala, fresh off of a $25.00 claim by the Big Barn, made every call a winning one, setting a hotly disputed pace and lasting to the wire, securing the victory. Now, don’t be confused, this 6yo gelding was already a stakes winner and was competitive in a number of other graded races, including a fourth place finish in the ’24 BC Mile (GI)… but where others thought his best days were behind him, this sure-to-be HofF conditioner set eyes on a big prize and brought it home as he covered the distance in 1:53.08 while going under the wire in front by a half length. Congrats to the Connections!
Multiple graded stakes winner, Chagrin Falls, from the Mo Mentum Farm outfit, chase the winner throughout and took the runner-up spot. It was two lengths back to TwinTowersRacing’s Jerk Port, the post time favorite, in third, and Giacomo surprised to bring home the minor money. As mentioned, seven lengths covered the field of eight and we had two exclusions with the scratches of Ello Santa and Great Vault.
