There should be no Fooling Me in The Sugar Swirl

The Sugar Swirl – Grade III
GP   Race #7   6f   Dirt   Graded Stake
Purse $100.00  For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.

1 City Twirl, trained by Mo Mentum Farm
This filly has been well placed to win 8 races but they have mostly come at lower grade. Recently she has been tested however and in her last start sowed that she is up to this sort of grade with a solid third in the ONT Fashion Stakes. She comes into this race fresher than some, has a great draw and is proven at the trip making her a decent chance in an open field.

2 Prime Senorita, trained by Mcl Stables
She has been running well at this level but has yet to really stamp herself at graded level. The winner of a good allowance last time out her best previous effort probably came in the Seaway Stakes when a closing fourth and whilst she has won at this trip i wonder whether six furlongs is a bit sharp for her. A good draw and nice enough works make er a contender.

3 Silk Houses, trained by Alydar Stables
Beaten a nose in this race in 2015 she has been a solid racehorse for her owner over a long career. Three times a graded stakes winner she has won two of them this year when a spring campaign saw her take the Las Flores Stakes and the Bed O Roses Handicap. Since June she has struggled a little although was given no chance in the BC Sprint when drawn 14 so at least that run can be forgiven. A nice sort who has the ability to win but i am a little worried about her form tailing off.

4 Missing Matter, trained by Paradise Stable
A consistent five year old wo has been bringing home the paychecks this year.  Her best effort this year probably came in the L.A Woman Stakes when she very nearly beat the wide draw when a half length second. Her win record at this level may not be strong enough but she is a real tryer and will certainly be in the fight at the end.

5 Rocket Fuel, trained by Team 7 Illusions
A lightly raced daughter of Charley Farley she won her maiden pretty easily just 6 weeks ago and then followed up with a soldi effort at allowance level. Her works are strong and with the weight allowance and a lack of class structure you have to say she has a chance in an open field with some of the best runners come off a busy season.

6 Fooling Me, trained by TwinTowersRacing
She is probably the most obvious choice here after a great effort in the BC Sprint saw her finishing strongly to be fifth. She has a couple of graded stakes wins this year one in the competitive Vagrancy Handicap where she had Silk Houses behind and another in the Honorable Miss handicap where she again beat Silk Houses. Strong works and the best form in the race should equal winner.

7 Plucky Riddle, trained by Tiratzo
She is at the end of a good season running up five wins from seven starts. She has never tackled this grade though but is working as well as the best of them and her race times have been right up there too. Does she have the required class gene for this race? Well only time will tell but she will have to have it to take this from a wide draw.

8 You Are My Sunshine, trained by Stone Creek Farm
Took advantage of the three year old weight allowance after moving from small track overnights to graded stakes class with some success. She was pretty much a no show in the BC Sprint and was just behind Missing Matter in the L.A Woman so she may find it tough from her draw but a reproduction of her run in the PID Masters Stakes puts her right in this.

SUMMARY
A competitive race where anything could win. On form and works Fooling Me should win with maybe a couple of three year olds spicing up the trifecta in Rocket Fuel and Prime Senorita.
