There’s a Rabbit Loose on the Course in The Forbidden Apple

The Forbidden Apple – Grade III
SAR Race #6 1m InTurf Stake

This race reminded us this is just a computer game as the ‘rabbit’ option was used and we saw the ‘copy and paste’ race that happens when that instruction is used. In the end it was a clever choice made by a trainer as the stable companion of the winner ran 4 furlongs faster than he can actually run and set the race up for Nowhere Man. This is how the winners fared.

1st Nowhere Man Mb Stables Lanerie C J

With the rabbit option taken by the trainer this one was ridden back and as we have seen so many times when this tactic is used the outside runner who avoids traffic is normally the one to win. So with a brilliant tactical decision made by the trainer we once again saw ‘one of those’ HRP races and though this horse won nicely in the end after covering more ground than most we dont really know how good it was. Today was what mattered though and this gelded four year old is creeping ever closer to the 1K purse winning threshold.

2nd Nice Dive Threshold Gaffalione T

Sat back off the strong early pace and was moving forward strongly when blocked on the rail when trying to get a run. It was only a few strides but he couldnt get the lead he needed to hold the late challenger and did his usual and quit a little in the finish. This was a good effort by the former free track runner though and i am sure he will continue to be competitive at this grade.

3rd Lunar Blaze John Henry Velazquez J R

Went off as favourite but the crazy early pace stopped him getting on the speed where he likes to be. Instead he led the chasing group and kept on well for third.

4th No Childe Of Mine Our Athletes Leparoux J R

Taken way back he was always going to get caught up from this draw and did well to run on strongly for fourth. He may end up being a better sprinter than a miler but this ended up as a bit of a silly race so you cant judge his ability over 8 furlongs from this effort.

  1. Great article, speaking the truth. Tactics, or race manipulation. All to claim a modest 150 purse.
