1. Belong To Me

Form:

• Ultra-consistent filly with five straight triple‑digit pace figures.
• Best recent effort: Beaumont (G2) win at 7f (96).
• Last two runs at 7f/8.5f were honest but lacked late punch.
• Stalker who needs a target and a pace collapse.

Works:

• 24 Jul SAR – 4f :46.2 (1/1) → elite, sharp.
• 26 May AQU – 4f :46 (1/2) → repeated speed.
• Pattern: fast, short, sharp — she’s primed.

Summary: A good win in the Beaumont over this trip would put her right in this race but she was a bit disappointing in an optional claimer last time over the same trip so questions have to be asked. With HRP form a bit inconsistent you can’t really take those two efforts on face value especially when you look at her running style. That running style is as a closer and it really can be very hit and miss so any results have to be taken with a pinch of salt. So take your pick, if the race engine works in her favor then she has a good chance but it generally doesn’t work too well for closers so whatever your choice her effort may rely on things we cannot predict.

2. Cold At Knight

Form:

• Best sprint résumé in the field: 3 wins from last 5, all at 6–7f.
• Eight Belles (G2) runner‑up (97), Maxfield (G3) strong finish.
• Tactical speed, finishes strongly, improving with each start.

Works:

• 14 Jul SAR – 5f :58.1 (1/20) → monster move.
• 24 Jul SAR – 6f 1:11.1 (10/14) → stamina.
• 1 Aug SAR – 5f :59.1 (8/23) → maintained form.

Summary: Well I have just been talking about inconsistency in closers but that often isn’t the same with front runners, however, here we see once again just how unpredictable HRP can be. She seems to be a seven furlong specialist so it was no surprise to see her take the Eight Belles in May and she looked like a three year old sprinter that was going places. Then came the Maxfield Stakes, a grade lower on the stakes ladder it seemed likely she would be involved in the finish but the race was run very much opposite to her win in the Eight Belles. Slow for the first half of the race the jokey took advantage of it and went to the front from a widish gate but then when the pace quickened she was left toiling like a claimer and ended up a distant last. So I throw my arms up and say what do we get today? Well as usual, pretty much anything in this field can win on a given day and this is no exception so with a good draw I would expect a much better effort than her last run.

3. Wants It All

Form:

• Class standout: KY Oaks, Ashland, Belmont.
• Last win: IND Oaks (G3) with a 96.
• But: all top efforts at 8.5–10f.
• Cutback to 7f is the question — she grinds, not bursts.

Works:

• 1 Aug CD – 5f :58.3 (1/5) → blistering.
• 27 Jun CD – 6f 1:10.3 (1/37) → elite.
• 30 May SAR – 4f :46 (1/2) → speed sharpen.

Summary: On the face of it she looks like she will need further after wins in the grade one Ashland and grade three IND Oaks but who can tell at HRP as we see sprinters win twelve furlong routes and vice versa. The trainer has a wise head on their shoulders so they must be confident the trip wont inconvenience her so as a grade one winner she may be the pick of the field.

4. Acapulco Gray

Form:

• Three straight 96s at 6–7f.
• Victors Road (G3) runner‑up last out.
• Always right there late; reliable tactical filly.
• No weakness at 7f — arguably her best trip.

Works:

• 28 Jul SAR – 7f 1:23.1 (1/4) → huge stamina drill.
• 6 Jul SAR – 6f 1:10.4 (4/35) → serious speed.
• 7 Jun CD – 1m turf 1:35.4 → fitness maintenance.

Summary: Strong works and consistent form could be key here as the newly crowned sprint king goes for another sprinting stakes race. Came from a mile back in the Eight Belles to be second to Cold At Knight but the outside draw probably had more to do with her running that day so I would expect her to be less of a deep closer today from this better draw. Three seconds in a row in stakes company, could today be the day for a break through.

5. Dreambits

Form:

• Strong sprint form: 94–96 figures repeatedly.
• Victors Road (G3): led, faded late (94).
• Better at 8–8.5f than pure sprinting.
• Needs a perfect trip; can be pace‑compromised.

Works:

• 1 Aug MTH – 6f 1:10.2 (8/62) → sharp.
• 24 Jul MTH – 6f 1:10.3 (5/59) → consistent.
• 3 Jul PRX – 6f 1:10.3 → fitness.

Summary: How many times do we see faster works not translate to race day? Well last time out in the Victory Road this one was working better than Acapulco Bay but finished well behind her in the race. That effort was definitely below par after wins in the Forward Gal, GP Oaks and a close seventh in the KYO so she will be expected to go better today and with Mb Stables at the helm you can expect a perfect tactical race.

6. Shedaresthedevil

Form:

• Improving with each start.
• DELOaks (G3) 5th but only beaten a length.
• Best sprint effort: Miss Preakness (G3) 95.
• Not as fast as the top group but reliable.

Works:

• 17 Jul SAR – 6f (T) 1:10.1 (4/21) → interesting turf drill.
• 2 Jun MTH – 6f 1:10.3 (3/23) → solid.
• 25 May BEL – 5f 1:02.4 (mud) → maintenance.

Summary: She was looking promising at state bred level but has struggled in open company in her last two and may need a little improvement to worry the best of these. Fairly lightly raced she is open to improvement though.

7. Cailleach

Form:

• Breakout win in Victors Road (G3) with a 98 — fastest last‑out figure in the field.
• Versatile: wins at 6.5f and 8.5f.
• Improving rapidly; dangerous late kick.

Works:

• 27 Jul SAR – 6f 1:11.3 (9/11) → solid.
• 21 Jul ELP – 5f :57.4 (1/5) → huge bullet.
• 5 Jul SAR – 6f 1:10.3 (2/20) → elite.

Summary: Turned decent form into exceptional form last time when taking the Victory Road after an inspired ride from Oritz. The same combination today bodes well but the outside gate may be a challenge. She will definitely go back though and as long as she doesn’t end up 6 lengths back after a quarter mile she has a proven turn of foot that may be dangerous at the end.

SUMMARY

This is a race that is much like any other stakes race these days, anything could win. I can’t even settle on one runner but when that is the case it is probably just as good to go with any Mb Stables runner so its Dreambits for me for a remarkable turn round in Victory Road form.
