CT Oaks – Grade II

7 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $750.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.

1st        Exciting             Maxmillion Farm         Bridgmohan S X           1:21.59

The pace was average which sat in this ones comfort zone and she foind a good position just behind the speed, never too far off the leaders. Asked to make a challenge off the turn she ground away and got home by a quarter length. A KYO runner she has performed well over longer trips but was a good sprinter as a two-year-old and that speed and stamina was very useful today. Exciting is the right name for her as she is able to run comfortably over sprint trips and around a mile giving her plenty of options going forward.

2nd       Lady Lobo         D J C Racing Stables Velazquez J R                1:21.67

She was a top prospect as is obvious by her combined value having switched hands three times now in her short career. The trip may have been a bit short and it has been a while since she last ran so she would’ve been entitled to run a bit flat today but her class shone through and as they entered the straight she looked like she may go and win. In the end her fitness gave out but she still ran a very nice race for her new owner since they picked them up in the Riggins Racing dispersal sale.

3rd        Zifi                    Mb Stables                     Santana R Jr                   1:21.92

Made the running on a sensible pace but was always susceptible in this even field to those behind her. Still in front with a  furlong to run she once again didn’t find much under the whip and ended up third. It was a good effort but one feels she needs to save some of her undoubted ability to be stronger at the end of her races. 

4th        Keimars Mistress        Luz International         Smith M E                    1:22.03

Seemed happy enough in behind the speed but never really stretched out when the pressure came on and was a one paced fourth.
